the grit in sandpaper could very easily be greater than a half a thousandth, and using it by hand would most likely create inconsistencies in the surface well outside tolerance of the part and have it rejected.

Get finer sandpaper, and If you put it flat on a surface that's definitely flat and then create something to hold the metal cube flat would be my guess.

Honestly I'm kind of interested to hear what he was allowed to use to get it within tolerance.  I have a few ideas but I've honestly never had to bring something to within a half thousandth by hand haha

OMG I love you. I started listening to bEAST Coast a few months back before Indigoism dropped.. Was posting all these Flatbush and Underachievers songs on Facebook and people were like wtf? And now they're blowing up. Went to the bEAST Coastal tour on the 25th in Seattle and it was awesome. Pro Era killed it and Underachievers killed it too!

We're having to use just hand files to make the faces on these blocks square, flat, and within our 3"x1.45" -0.0000" +0.0005" tolerance. We started with a Coarse file and are working down to a bastard, second cut, smooth, and finally a dead smooth. Leaves you with a flat face if you draw file reallllllllyyy sloooooowwwwlllyyy. And yeah, looks like its going good. After I'm done this I have to drill, tap, and heli-coil some holes on this block, then drill a #60 hole in the side of the bolt head. Hopefully I learn how to be laser precise after I'm done this thing...

Also came to mind that calling a girl an asshole is hilarious for some reason. Well maybe because no one ever really calls a girl an asshole. Pretty sure if I tried to legitimately call a bitchy girl an asshole, I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.
