freestyler540Engineering Officer on heavy lift cargo ship. I was doing the Salt run on the East coast for 2 months, then got transferred for 4.5 months to do the Arctic trips.
2 trips to Milne Inlet and Pond Inlet, 1 trip to Baker Lake and a trip to Rankin Inlet.
This is my ship (and my home since June 29th). Shes quite the bad-ass ship; built in 2016. Id post more pictures, but the internet here prevents me from uploading pictures :
Major fuckin respect man there aren't many people cut out to do work like that. Takes a real level headed individual to manage something of that scale.
I feel you on the lack of social possibilities that would be presented if I were to strive to do something similar, 6 on 6 off. That hasn't been something I even thought of considering before it was brought my attention.
Detailed a womens car today in PC, amazingly shes fron my high schools town in NH and lived near my homies and like 5 minutes from me, and bought her car at the dealership I worked at, small world eh.
Idk why that coincidence shot blows my mind.
DeebieSkeebiesI think it was almost a year to the date when that guy shot and killed the foreign exchange student girl on campus and tried fleeing up to emigration canyon. Kinda nutty, The valleys turning into a weird place now.
It was the day before Halloween last year. I remember actually being up on campus on Halloween cause I had to work on a group project, and campus was pretty much completely deserted. It was a Tuesday. Very spooky. Also 2 years ago there was that guy with a mask on who sexually assaulted someone in a parking lot. Dont think they ever found him. The description they gave was like "6ft tall, wearing a mask" and it was on Halloween so it literally could have been anyone.

QuaffI think it is time to switch roommates...since I have gotten to the point of actually thinking of ways to kill him and make it look like a mistake.

6 months on and 6 months off is not normal for a Canadian flagged ship. I try to cap it off at 3 months, then take a month off to change the mind. Its definitely not a career for everyone. However, the company had a labor shortage this year and they couldnt find me any relief this year. Im walking away with 17G to enjoy at home. It would have been more if I wouldnt have blown it on liquor.
Its even harder to find a girl at home, not too many are turned on from me being gone half of the year...

Anything that falls into seasonal. In shipping industry, I can suggest fishing trollers. The money is insanely good.
Landscaping is really seasonal and you can get good money. Tree planters, firefighter, field worker... but the jobs suck and the money isnt really good.I cant think of too many...

Fair enough, thanks for the leads either way though. I'm asking this cause I'm graduating this year and wanted to weigh some of my misc. options after I take a year off in BC. I'm still definitely heavily considering pursuing post secondary education but I want to take various different career paths into consideration as I have no idea what I want to do yet...
I dropped math and now I have great grades. Before math was really holding me back from doing well in my other classes. I feel like a made a great decision

Todd Jones needs to stop hyping up his kid. Its fucking annoying to watch a video and have some 12 year old reference "growing up" and how pollution scares him most. He hasn't grown up and what scares him most is talking to girls. Todd Jones is a major douche.
Kid can ski though, and we cant choose our dads, also i think each of us is a bit jealous since we all have to work and whatnot. I know I wish i could ski every day from childhood. Question is can he work hard like despite having the life given to him.

My shoulder is so fucked. I’ve been in PT for six weeks now. I went tie my hair up and ended up crying. It’s been 7 hours and the pain is so bad i haven’t been able to sleep. I see my fox in the 13th but I’m not sure that’s soon enough.

also an honorable mention to Parkin Costain. Jesus christ, that kid can ski and that was one of the heaviest lines ive seen skied in a while. Good lord. Hes still super young and hes gonna pan out to be one of the games heaviest big mountain rippers.

Just watched it and wow, that guys a sicko, whole film was just hammers. That and henriks film have me so stoked to ski this season, older dudes that are the kings.
If anyone using Firefox has had the NS autoplay video disabled (media.autoplay.enabled in about:config set to false) but NS videos started autoplaying again (seriously, fuck off with this. So fucking annoying), then also set media.autoplay.default to 1 and they autoplay should stop again.

Meeting our crew at the lodging place im workin at. Everyones cool and im fitting in. I was talkin with our public safety dude tonight and hes super chill but thinks being a lifty is the worst mountain job, and that broke my heart a lil. Jupiter Chair, Winter 2014/25 was probably the most fun job ive ever had. And we got our names etched into the top shack forever and ever. That place is kinda home to us lol

Its all about the crew you have. We were mostly composed of shredders that wanted to take laps so we'd switch off laps in intervals when it was slow and let eachother buzz off for a few. Plus doobies galore, hot breakfast sandwiches and grilled goodies for lunch, and dudes that were stoked. It was a good time. But I see why some arent down with it.
There was just a shooting at a synagogue 2 blocks away from the house I grew up in and where my parents still live. 4 people killed during a full Saturday service.
