safarisamIf you don’t want to teach, will a PhD kill your job prospects? Overqualification is a thing. Do not go to your undergrad institution for a PhD if you went there for a masters, or really in general. Masters, can be fine to go to your undergrad. PhD? Not so much.

Read into what the Ochem community says, or even reach out to your old advisor.

Today one of my coworkers jokingly said "why am I even friends with you?!" and all I could think was were friends? holy shit I have a friend. And then I realized beside my boyfriend and best friend who lives 400 miles away, I don't have any friends.

i think my favorite zone at snowbird is the bassackwards benches. its kinda like a terrain park in a way, lots of fun little jumps and wind lips and plenty of cliffs of all sizes to tee up. you got a couple taint slappers if you wanna get scary or some epic field goal senders through the trees that arent too big but big enough for some fun. good place to work on shit if you are in the mood, and even more fun to ski fast through and hot lap with friends.

The roads in Milwaukee are absolutely FUCKED right now. I don't know why but they've gotten worse than they've ever been. My back is fucking broken from slamming into literal foot deep potholes. The majority of doubletrack logging roads I've driven are better than the average street in MKE right now. It rattles your teeth in a stock suspension SUV, I literally won't be able to drive my car with coil overs when the salt's gone. that's what's on my mind

Driving home from night skiing, decide to give it some gas on the empty road, 2 seconds later I have to swerve around a fully grown moose coming out of the woods. Almost hit the moose and had I lost control I'd be taking it into a swamp with my wrecked car and body.

There's a IFSA event up here in Alberta at Castle mountain, $105 to enter + 2 potentially 3 days of lift tickets + food and accommodation, I'm just not sure if I can justify it or not

WooHoo! SkiBowl! So much snow now. Pushed it way hard the last two days in the deep and steep getting risky in the trees and stumps. Roads were chaos. On the way down Sat rolling at like 5mph the uphill was a wasteland cars just stopped in the middle of the road. Only thing heading up hill is one old guy walking up carrying a pair of full tilts. Very surreal.
Faunt is still gray. (:

This season, and every season, is awesome in its own way.

What I hate is when EVERYONE claims to love skiing, but NO ONE shows up until February when it snows. Then EVERYONE shows up again. FUCK YOU. PAY YOUR DUES. Go skiing when it’s icy, don’t just show up when it’s good.

Also pisses me off when people show up on pow days at like 11:00.... it’s like ????

Whatever. Sleep in. I don’t care. Just don’t tell me you love skiing.

If you have a legit obligation I understand. But the majority of people rolling in at 11:00 just woke up late because they’re lazy or had a bit too much to drink the night before.
this is especially true for weekends, I can understand rolling up at 11;00 on a weekday if you have shit to do. That’s what I do on thursdays. But Sunday morning, 14” of new snow, I’m at the hill 45-60 min before it’s even open

^lol . So many people I talked to the past couple of days that said they were up for the first time in years. I was like, "you should try coming out in the spring when there is less traffic and sunshine. The landings are soft then too." But they will probably forget about skiing by then.

At Perisher in Aus, the car park is full an hour before lifts open even if the snow is shit.

my dads anal about clean cars and taking care of them, which isnt a bad thing at all, but still puts a little pep in your step when your ride is clean. my grandpa was the same way, but he worked in the auto industry in the hayday of Detroit and always whipped a fuckin minty fresh caddy.

I clean 10-30 customer cars a day and wow are people disgusting, even when they drive $60k suvs i find gross shit or have to decrease the piss out of it. It sucks if they get a loaner car with their babies and trash them in a day or 2. Got sick of my dirty car so I gave our detailer $40 to wash and wax it (cant wash mine on the clock) and he did the interior super well with leather restoring shit and dusted it all, fuck carpooling in my car for a few weeks cause it can get dirty fast.

Might get into detailing if i can't find my specific job in SLC cause we have equipment and got taught how to use it all and it's pretty fun if we have time to use it.
