Then about 12 hours of homework writing a project proposal, 2 essays, 2 quizzes, an exam, and 200 pages of reading on sunday, followed with a drunken stupor of grilling and watching the Fourth Phase in a backyard. So neither of us have ever worked on a subi and he started draining the tranny fluid cause in any other car the plug was in the same general vicinity. Not a huge deal, went to the store and got a couple quarts to fix that.
Changed the oil at this point just fine.
Went to fill up the tranny fluid and the previous owner mixed up the tranny and front diff dipsticks so I put 3 quarts of tranny fluid in the wrong side.(how it held that much is beyond me).
So now we have to drain that but we need all sorts of fuckin tools to do it. So we go to get those as well as more tranny fluid because I dumped it in the wrong one. Also bought gear oil shit for the front diff.
After 15 minutes of watching my dad struggle to break the thing loose, we finally got the drain plug thing off. Filled that mother fucker up and went to do the tranny.
The dudes at the store gave us CVT fluid which is not right for my car so we had to go back and get the right kind. In our defense, totally the dude at the stores fault.
So yeah, it ended up costing over $200 for everything. Granted, we can return some of it but it was an absolute clusterfuck.
In theory I could have gone to a shop and had it done but usually it's twice as expensive and twice as long as we can do it for so that's usually not an issue. But hey, I don't have to worry about any of these fucking fluids for a long time(in theory). Hahahaha

HawleywoodDamn you're havin a shit ton of luck lately! It runs me about $60-65 (cdn) to do full synth oil and filter change. Usually my man does it because the plug is too tight for me. Especially when he was the last one to do it!
Shop would probably run me 90$ so I save a little that way and save the hassle of going when I can do it in my
driveway.

milk_manI run synthetic because I'm supposed to :/ Passat 1.8t.. it's spendy tho. They say synthetic is better for the turbo. More durable oil..stands up to the extra heat that the turbo constantly faces
