Her boyfriend (photographer and graphic designer, Matt Livingston) didn’t take this photo to make a point. Or to parade her around like a trinket. Or to give you a hard on. Or to piss you off even. He took it because she owns the space she occupies; even that relatively small space where her nipples live alongside her strong arms, her muscular build, her pink hair, her firm chin, her piercing blue eyes and the rest.
In that moment he captured her entire being. And THAT is breathtaking.

When I look at this photo I see a young woman who appreciates her body for all of its complexities more than you or I possibly could. She had a stroke and lost her ability to use her left side, to process language, or to speak and move as she wished. She worked hard for endless hours in physical and occupational therapy to gain it back. And endured unspeakable surgeries and procedures to heal. She earned this body. She appreciates this body. She occupies this body with wisdom and with strength.
When I look at this photo I see a young woman who has survived physical assault at the hands of a selfish predator who tried to dominate her. She is saying ‘no more’ and ‘I am not afraid’.
When I look at this photo I see a young woman who has recovered from an eating disorder that caused that strong frame to wither to nothing in an effort to be invisible. Another hard-earned victory. She is solid. And toned. And present. And just-right-as-she-is. And, most importantly, finally comfortable in her own body again.
When I look at this photo I see a young woman who lives on the West Coast; where braless is the norm rather than the exception and where some feel that breast constriction inhibits healthy breast care. A young woman who is making a conscious and informed decision about her own body.
When I look at this photo I see a young woman who refuses to let those who have tried to diminish or contain her win for one more second.

we need to stop trying to prevent love from entering into our lives. people take off the clown suit, put down the mask. stop scaring people and putting on the facade, you are not fooling anyone.
it is important that humanity as a whole stop trying to wait for something to happen before they are going to love. people keep putting off love and just walking up to their neighbors or friends and saying hey man i love you, you are important and you matter in this world.
procrastination is a big problem. today becomes tomorrow, and everyday you keep putting off love you are just gathering a stack of todays that become tomorrows that turn into yesterdays and nothing is moving? you have a stack on today's that have become yesterdays and love isnt happening
why? why cant we just stop the bullshit, stop all the race, religion, and horse shit. tune out what you hearing on news or whatever your mum has on tv. just go out side, talk to people, tell them they matter, love everyone.

Shit! I cracked the screen on my phone this afternoon. When I got back from lunch I put my phone on my desk and I did not notice until I got a phone call. I think my key got stuck between the edge of the screen and the case and cracked the curved part of the screen.

if you still need a pass and what not, ask yourself is it worth to get a bike/climb when the snow will start falling in October and the skiing will start in November and go until May? I mean you'd only really get to use it for a few more months then switch over to winter sports, so maybe just borrow gear for the rest of the year to save cash then when spring approaches decides what you want to do.

I feel you. I'm a busser/server and a wine bar and I have a love-hate relationship with slow nights. Sometimes it's nice, but the manager gets on your ass a lot and looking for something to do sucks. Sometimes I go wash dishes for an hour to help the time pass haha. I like that happy medium where you always have something to do but not overwhelmed with work.

kind of just an awful day all-around really. my boss is going through a really rough patch in life right now and he is in a poor mental state as was told by his step daughter, so i understand why he may be more on edge and stressed out. However, i think the issue is he is used to mostly having family members work for him and is used to using them as punching bags whenever he is bothered or angry which i get, we've all unloaded on our own relatives/siblings/parents at some point. Not really sure if its the best way to manage people you've barely known for a week or so, though. He is mostly used to having other people be the boss as well while he does general maintenance and upkeep, so i don't think he is the best at people management.
im fine with criticism and its needed to get the job done but when its literally every task you do thats not the way he does it regardless of the outcome, every small mistake that's made results in just anger and annoyance and having him tell you "youre really screwing things up for us" , and getting berated and insulted in front of a client in the lobby for a simple mistake based from miscommunication, you just feel absolutely humiliated and awful and your time there isn't really worth it. I spent 2 hours last week disinfecting a kennel area that a dog shat hot diarrhea all over and his response was "why didn't you mop the hallways first? i must be doing something wrong because you just aren't getting it".
i guess i sound like a baby but today really left a bad taste in my mouth. i kinda got into it with him after he told me i was getting on his nerves and just simply retorted with "just fire me then if that's the case". really awkward last hour and he tried getting all chummy with me as I was heading out. just fucking weird and uncomfortable all around. I feel bad for this dude but i also see why he has struggled with keeping loyal employees.
