Just want to know if anyone has the LCD screen for the GoPro and thinks if it was worth it, its pretty small and I was just wondering before I spend the eighty dollars.
It depends, I have one, they're nice to have if you want to check to see if you got the shot you wanted, but they do add some weight to the gopro, and drain the battery if you film with it on. Also, it is a bit confusing at first to get to and from the play screen. If you're using your gopro primarily for skiing and want to film then watch what you filmed on the lift then it's good, otherwise, there's not too much point for it.
I have several friends with gopros, and one has the lcd screen. I personally would not want the screen as it does add needless weight. I haven't noticed it draining the battery, but I don't see too much benefit from it, so i would never get one.
Fuck no. My friend bought one and he watches that shit on the lift. It drives me fucking crazy and most of the time I can't even see what's going on because of glare/screen size/goggles on. Honestly, the lens is so wide angle that if you need to make sure the shot you got is good enough, you shouldn't waste your time trying to film. Seriously though, save your $80 for something more useful.
depends on what your using it for, if its for skiing id say no, but i have it and use it for like fun little things i wanna flim with my gopro and find it pretty helpful
i love mine. to all you saying it's bulky... yea cause the gopro is soooooo big. and you can take it off and put it in a new housing when it goes on your helmet. i will agree it does drain battery life but i love my LCD screen.
say fuck your gopro, and get a DriftHD. More battery, less weight, screen built in, and a super sleek design. it even has a handy dandy remote so if you position it right in your jacket you can play/stop without reaching up on top of your head.
I just got one and have been loving it so far. I dont think it takes up too much extra battery life but I havent been filming with it on much. As for the weight it hasent made a difference yet but i havent worn it on a helmet yet so i dont really know. the only thing is because of the extra width in the back if your helmet mount is right in the front and not on top the camera might not be able to point completly foward. other than that it is great and i would definatly recomend it if you like to watch your videos before you have to put the on the computer. Hope this helps.
There is no reason to have the lcd screen on if you are putting the cam on your helmet. It completely defeats the purpose. The lcd screen is so you can see what you are flming.
i personally like the excitement and suspense of getting home and watching the footage, but thats just me. I would rather have more footage than a drained battery and more weight.
If you are some gaper then yes. You shouldn't have to look at footage from a gopro to see if you got the shot. There is absolutely no reason to have the lcd screen on and have the cam on your helmet. The true purpose is for tripod/ follow cam filming where you are looking at the screen so you get the shot that you want.
Yeah cause when you shoot your going to get a perfect shot every time... fucking idiot. It's meant for playback that's why there is a screen. Therefore it would be good to have as you could look at the footage on the lift or the lodge.
Is useful so that you don't spend a day filming only to have part of your helmet or anything blocking a quarter of the screen but the lens does get alot.
And a bother good feature with it is that on a gopro without one the menu screen is small and insufficient and the back screen gives you a clearer menu so it's alot easier to change from video to photo and to adjust the brightness
i am buying one, from what i understand you can look through your clips and delete them which would be sooo nice, its such a pain to come home to 300 clips and have to sort through them.
I like my lcd bac, its pretty nice for little non skiing edits, as well as making sure you have a good shot. I would never wear it on my helmet though, that would be stupid
