Im doing a semester in Christchurch at the Uni of Canterbury right now! Woohoo! School starts monday and i hope to get up in the the mountains to ski soon... im dying to get my skis on but i am trying to do some research first on how to save some money so i can make sure i get to do everything i want while im here! Haha. Hoping i can get some help/advice from you locals : )
As i said im in Christchurch right now... i would like to try out a few of the ski areas in the vicinity! So is there anywhere that i can get reduced ticket prices for places like Mt Hutt? Also are there student rates for any of these mountains? Would a season pass be a better way to go... Are there multi mountain season passes available? If so, how much are they and where do i get them? If i come skiing on a saturday it would be awesome to be able to ski sunday too without having to get back to Christchurch (seeing as i don't have a car)... any ideas were i could get a cheap place to stay in the area of any of the ski mtns around CC?? Any help is appreciated because i am lost as to what to do but i want to get on my skis asap!
During my winter break (august 22-sept 2) i want to take a trip to either Queenstown or to the Snowpark. What will i be paying for tickets down there? And do they have student rates or discounted tickets? Are there cheap hotels or hostels in the area- either very close to the ski area or where i can easily get the the mtn or with public transport?
Also, what is the best way to get to all of these places since i dont have a car. Obviously i would fly over to the North island if i decided to go to the snowpark over winter break, but what about getting to and from the hill from CC
Thanks for the help! PM me if thats easier : )
