Why don't British people drink water?

I just spent two weeks in England and Scotland playing golf.  I never once found a water dispenser at any of the golf courses I went to, and none of the restaurants I ate at served me water without me requesting it first.

If there are any UK residents on here at this early hour (4 am gmt), please explain this to me.

the water at restaurants is all of europe, you have to request it first because they give you bottles and it costs money.

Cant argue with that logic. But how many times do you see people bring out water and only two people at the table actually drink it. The other two leave it there it takes up space for plates and other drinks. I can dig it. But i also drink water usually so its kinda whatever. Ask or don't ask aint no thing.

Im gonna guess at what you meant in this post and say water has to be provided for free in scotland by law if alcohol is being served. There is no real reason for not providing it as standard other than not everyone wants water and so. why waste it when you can provide it when its wanted. Oh yeah im uk born and bred and in 19 years ive never had braces an only had 1 very small filling.

Ok yeah so another reason for not providing water on the table is they want to make money from you by getting you to pay for bottled water, it just depends where you go

I work in a resteraunt and we will not give you water unless you ask for it.
We'd rather you buy mineral water from us, or ordered something like a Coke which we can charge you an extortionate price for.

Pretty much everywhere I've played golf they have water fountains, they're just usually hidden. Just ask what holes they're on before you go out. Like other people said you have to ask for it at restaurants.

there's also a severe lack of ice in europe. europeans need to get on the ice bandwagon already. IT'S LIKE INTERNAL AIR CONDITIONING, PEOPLE. drink a tall glass of ice water and suddenly southern italy and spain don't seem so hot. I don't get it. i feel like people that don't have AC in their homes would have figured this out by now.

When the British Dentist's Union split up, they ran off to live in an elaborate cave network in the Swiss Alps. they also took most of England's drinking water, making it a very rare commodity, and leaving all English people with nasty ass teeth.

Why do you need water dispensers? There are taps everywhere, just get a bottle and fill it up. I drink a lot of water, almost always have a bottle with me.
