I'm looking at getting a new camera and i have done a lot of research. right now im stuck between the Canon 60d and the t3i. any input would be appreciated.
1) What is your budget? How much money can you spend right away, and do you think you can get more money to invest in the future? im willing to buy the 60d but is it worth the extra money over the t3i? and yes i would have money to invest in the future
2) What experience do you already have with cameras? Have you ever even used one before? Have you helped your friend out with his camera? Have you owned your own? My mom has a canon rebel xti that i use alot and have quite abit of experience with. i know about aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, etc.
2) What gear, if any, do you currently have? (tripod, old camera lenses, mics, etc) i have a few tripods and a canon 75-300mm lens and a 18-55mm lens.
4) What are you planning to shoot and how do you want to use your camera? Are you going to use this with the sole purpose of shooting skiing? or do you think you might try other stuff as well (movies, documentaries, short films, etc) i will be using the camera about 50/50 for video and pictures. i will mainly video sports (skiing, longboarding, wakeboarding, etc) but i would also use it alot for pictures.
5) Do you want a camera that you can hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let them shoot you? or will you be doing all the filming? i would be doing a majority of the filming but a few of my friends have film experience that i would let them use it.
6) When filming skiing, how do you tend to shoot? (follow cams, leave it on record on a tripod and hike, film from a tripod, etc) ive really only filmed skiing from my contour so mostly follow cams but i would like to learn techniques with filming from a nice camerra.
7) What computer do you currently have/use to edit (if not currently editing, what would you most likely use)? If you can provide specifics, such as hard drive space, RAM, processor size, that would be great. windows.
7) What program do you currently edit on? How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can make tutorials and know the keyboard layout) Vegas 10. i am pretty familiar with it. id say like a 6 or a 7.
