Using HDV tapes over

So I have a HV20 and have been using the same tape over and over for about a month now. When should I start using another one?, I just archive all my video on a harddrive. Is there a downside to reuseing tapes?

Pretty sure they slowly lose quality to more worn out they become. I wouldn't overwrite tapes because you can use they as backups that never fail, unlike a harddrive. Or move away from tapes. Tapeless workflow makes life 100 times easier.

Why would you ever use the same tape? By doing so, you're depriving yourself of the most legitimate backup. Harddrives fail; tapes do not.
