Hot Dogger vs. Booter

hey guys,
I was looking around the internet for a new pair of park boots for next season. I wouldn't say that i'm a beginner, but I'm not that good either. so, I found a couple of veeeery good deals for this past season's hot dogger and booter. although i'll actually get a change to try them, I would like a couple of advices.

so, the first thing is that i have a very wide foot. therefore, i think that the booter (102mm right?) would fit me better.... but, are the 3mm of difference a big deal?

I was also wondering.... I read that the hot dogger is stiffer than the booter, but given that this will be my very first REAL park boot i'm not sure if i should prefer a stiffer or a softer boot. I gotta mention that I will also cruise around the backcountry sometimes with my obsetheds, but i'll spend most of the time in the park anyways.

I hope you guys can give me some advice, i'm really puzzled about these issues.

PS: if you guys wanna bring in also other models such as the ace of spades, then it would be cool, i wanted to know more about that boot too. thanks a lot :)

whys is that? i mean, the booter is 102mm in width.... I can't seem to find anything that much wider around...

the booter isnt ft it is fti, which is full tilt influence or some shit, but it isnt the same consctrucion with the cables and shit like that, the shell is a thiner plastic making it more ceseptible to breaking, but do not buy boots on line.

i wasnt going to buy them online... i mean, i found them online, but i am actually going to the real shop to try them. i just wanted advices like the one you gave me ;) thanks

what do you think about the hot dogger then? i mean, i'm not sure whether with time it's gonna get more loose (enough to fit my feet well)

what about the ace of spades? any opinion about those?

the hotdogger really is a great boot, if it fits you, the technology is old but yet new, the cables make it lighter then any other three piece boot.

i have never worn the ace of spades, but the concept is the same, it is a three piece progressive flex boot. i have dalbello kryptons and love them, only regret is not geting the intuitions in them those liners are amazing. go to the bootfitter and try every boot on and see which one you like best, and where them for a good half hour and make sure you arent feeling any pinching anywhere, then you can get them molded.

and OP, dont be a trendwhore and get FT's, check out SPK's and Ace of Spades. Both are wider that full tilts

yeah for me its not about getting the "coolest" boot, i just want to know whether you think the hot dogger has a fit that would suit me. anyways, i'll also get a chance to try the ace of spades, i'll see how it goes.

what about the flex? do you think that it's no big deal to get a quite stiff boot although im still not that good in park?thanks

the flex is more personal prefeernece then anything, if you are jibbing all day then a soft flex boot would work slightly better, if you are charging hard then a stiffer boot is going to be better.

I looked up in the old posts but i couldnt find much, but many people mentioned that nordicas are wider than FT's, and that FT's suck for people like me... I KNOW, I WILL GO TO A BOOT FITTER, but i just want to have some preliminary info about them.
I was also wondering... what do you guys think about the differences between the nordica's ace of spades and dead money? i didnt find any comparison, and the only difference i know about is the flex... is there anything else or is that it? thanks

Its ok to do some research on boots, but do not try to pick out a boot yourself. One of the most annoying things as a bootfitter is having people come in thinking they know wha they need. They may ask to try on a boot, most of the time its the wrong boot, but then its hard to convince them its the correct boot for them. Your best bet is not to look at any boots and gends. Also go to a few if you want so you can cheack the info is correct. Overall though just dont bother looking at boots as you will only end up disapointed when you end  you get put in something you did not want.

Also just so you know, head and atomic and salomon all make boots lasted to 102-104 mm nowthy may not all be freestyle boots, but really other the spk most "freestyle" boots are just alpine boots with cool colours.

i perfectly know what you mean.... i'm not trying to pick a boot (anymore), i just want to get some "bckground info" about them, what their flex is, if they're built better than others, if they're USUALLY better for people with a big calf (like me, which i forgot to mention). anyways, i'll go to the shop and will try them on, spend some time in them. I'm just curious about some info

nobody knows if there are any other differences between the ace of spades and the dead money except for the flex?

I believe that the flex is the only difference. The deaf money might not have the pant clip though.

Just to say, there are more nordica boots then those two, there both a 100mm last so prob wont be the best, but that does not mean other boots in there range wont fit. Also regarding flex, what may be the correct flex for me may be way to stiff or way to soft for you even if we both ski the same stuff. Things like fit, flex and support required can only be done by a boot fitter with your feet infront of him. Without that all this is just wishfull thinking and may be for nothing when you end up with a boot by a brand you did not even consider.

buy a boot that fits right..... you'll hate anything that doesnt
but with that being said i have hot doggers and a wide foot but my ski shop pressed out the plastic to give me more room, PERFECT FIT (after about 2 tries)

Its called getting your boots blown out. All that is done is you heat the inside of the boot and press out or "blow out" the areas which give you pain/trouble. If your store is legit that you get your boots from they should be able to hook you up for free... and BTW booters are nowhere near as durable or nice as hot doggers.... I dunno who said the flex was the only difference but that's not the case.

thx guys, +k to all of you

I went to the boot fitter, and came back home with the only pair of boots i didnt consider much (dunno why) : SPK's from this past season

they are amazing, i've never worn boots like these. they fit around my weird-looking feet like a glove and keep them in place awesomely. plus, they are sooooo comfortable, ad the flex is perfect. they are sick looking IMO, and look very durable. BEST.

btw, given that i had a chance i also tried the FT's. I have to say that the Hot Dogger was comfortable in the front part of my feet (although they're wide) but they were sooooooooo tight on the heel and calves, i basically couldn't close the two upper buckles.

I was also very tempted by the Dead Money. It was almost as comfortable as the SPK, but I noticed a couple of differences which made me buy the SPK's: the flex of the Dead Money is not as progressive as the SPK, and it kinda reminded me more of a racing boot. also, in the Dead Money the base of my heel had much more space to move, it wasn't kept in place as well as with the SPK.

overall, great boot. I'm happy I found the right one
