Ok so this weekend I shall be purchasing a 1997 subaru legacy GT. Now since everyone one on this forum owns a subaru I thought maybe you could help. Has anyone blown one of the head gaskets on there car? If the awd system fails since its old, can I just rig it to be fwd/rwd depending on what part of the driver train fails. Also will I be able to do sweet drifts in the snow and feel really awesome?
why would you be okay with buying a subaru so you can run it fwd or rwd, are you fucking retarded ? you don't want rwd unless you want to slide and drift, front wheel drive is okay but not that fun. you sir are a moron
i wouldnt be suprised if you blew a headgasket soon, and why the fuck would you want a suby without allwheel drive? unless you live in fucking kentucky.
take care of a car.. and you should expect it to "break" or find a different car thats not a subaru in your price range with lower miles that doesn't have AWD which if you plan on converting it because the awd system is going to fail theres no point in a subaru.
I only plan on finking with it if it does fail, not before hand. And I won't lie I'm reaching for this car because It does have a large 4, and AWD, and is a friend of the family so I am getting it fairly cheap with no interest payments. I will make this clear again, I don't plan on purchasing the car then converting it to fwd or rwd. I was only curious to see if that was a possible solution to a problem, then you get all but hurt and bent out of shape about it. Nice thing though is insurance is cheaper because apparently AWD makes you a better driver.
i'm pretty sure i have 2 fully built cars that i know more about you. ar6rider, whats so funny ? rwd is fun because of sliding.. do you ever see fwd cars at drift faction events ? let alone awd ? no. so why are you laughing ?
I think the fact that you said "fully built" means that you're some honda douche bag who doesn't know what he is talking about, and most likely can't drive one lap around a racetrack without balding his front tires from understeer.
chances are it wont fail, what you have is a front diff that powers the rear wheels only when the front wheels slip. if your rear end was to fail im not totally sure what you would do, you can convert it to rwd though by removing the drivelines to the front wheels and welding the spider gears in the center diff.
Well I got the car and it has been great so far, only problem is that the seat adjuster is broken so the seat is stuck in a far back lean. I look like a huge wigger doucher while driving it.
Why are you worried of the system failing with 78,000 miles on it? Is it in bad shape or something. I mean I guess it's pretty old but it doesn't have that many miles on it. Especially saying its a Subaru (Asian cars are know to last long) I don't think you'd have to worry about much. Turbos and radiators and stuff like that are the first things that go.
tbh if a car is 14 years old and has 78000 miles that means either the owner was old/had no life and drove it twice a week, or every mile on that is city and it could be more worn than a commuter with 140k. 78k is nothing, and if its a 97 who cares, just have fun with it
Any one ever fix a seat, is it a big deal to do? I'm tired of looking like a huge douche. All I need is a fitted cap and a Canadian tire coffee can muffler and I would complete the look.
