LOL @ The american Justice System... what a joke.
It's more fucking Hollywood then anything else - I watched some of the defense closing statement and the language used was SO unprofessional - completley emotionally charged, with very little substance.... it was like watching a Soap opera.... I literally had no idea Lawyers were ACTUALLY allowed to talk like that in the USA, especially in a court room in front of a Judge!
When he made the comparison between a Forensic Anthropologist, not being a chemist - and him saying "I like to drive fast, but that doens't make me a racing driver, even though i'd like to be one" - i nearly fell off my chair... what UTTER shit.... Firstly, forensic anthropolgy is hugely chemistry based... but is much more specific applied chemistry as opposed to general chemistry - and therefore made this a much more credible witness...
Just fucking retards lawyers over here - (Disclaimer - no offense to any lawyers here.... even though i think there mostly canadian anyway..... ha)
What a load of bollox.... any country that televizes this shit and turns it in to a giant soap opera where the celebrity of the case becomes bigger then the trial itself is fucking stupid - and this is exactly what happens.
The first time I've ever seen anything like this - and i was kinda shocked that that's the reality of a judge/jury trial over here....
and Yes I can call a so called legal professional - unprofessional - the language they use, the way they convey an argument, the lack of facts and just the general wishy washy bullshit they spouted was horrendous -
But in that case - the Judge let that shit be spouted - which makes him even more unprofessional...
Wouldn't have been allowed in a British Courtroom.... there is no room for sentiment, going off down tangents, irrelavent subjects of discussion.... etc etc...
I'll give you this though - they did their job in term's of having nothing to really go on - but by spouting enough bullshit, for a long enough period (using full 4hrs or whatever it is) to make the Jury members have doubts.... which at the end of the day - as is proven- is all you need over here....
The bottom line is - it's pretty obvious she did it....everyone knows it, in fact - it's a stone wall guilty... but the US justice system saved her from being convicted...
anyway - i'll leave it - im just amazed that she got off with everything really.... will get a max of 4 yrs in prison.... probably be out in 2....
Yeah - i haven't watched anything on this - i was just amazed at the way this guy talked... the quite honestly, STUPID statements he made - like the example i gave above.... surely there were people on the Jury who are as smart as i am, and who can see the same thing i see... ?
But you're right - there is nothing you can do if you have the slightest doubt.... that's just the way it is over here.... Murder your kid and as long as the body isn't found for a few years, when a definitive cause of death cannot be 100% ascertained... you're golden!
Is that it now? Case closed - or can she be re-arrested and re-tried if new evidence comes to light?
My analysis is based on me being a smart as fuck engineer - and listening to a so called professional lawyer being allowed to make crazy statements about him wanting to be a race car driver as if it has any relevance to a case is quite honestly mind blowing.
But if that's how it is, that's how it is..... Im not a lawyer - but ask myself this - how can a legal system be have integrity and robustness when it's turned into a Reality TV show.... ?
Didn't ABC pay for one of the lawyers?
Woozy - you obviously think she didn't do it.... so that's great, and apparently you're right.
Now im off to get on with my life... but get JD in here for the Legal insight... Im clearly not qualified for this discussion.
Well - that's frustrating then.... . It's obvious she was involved in her dissapearance/death somehow - her parents know it, she know's it and the defense lawyer definately knows it... but i guess they have to live with all that shit. Didn't the Prosecution present a pretty solid case?
I think ABC paid 200k towards one of the lawyers - obviously to gain some kind of rights after the case was finished.... even that I believe is a huge conflict of interest...
I personally think TV should stay out of court rooms...
