im going to be a senior in high school this year and am looking into colleges. iv heard seattle is pretty fun and that the skiing is decent about an hour away. im going for engineering and washington is pretty highly ranked. so i was wondering if anyone here attended and could give me any opinions on the skiing/academics/whatever.

no, but seriously, regionals. (UW is a great school though, right on the lake and relatively close to everything in seattle)

I went to UW.  It's pretty fun if you can handle the clouds.  Good parties, good skiing, good school.  They have a student deal with whistler so you can get a season pass there for ~400 CAD, which is pretty epic.  I rode 3 days a week every winter for 4 years, so it was a good time to say the least.  Definitely recommend it.

Im from Seattle, but im looking to get out of washington for college.( Utah or Montana) but for quick escapes theres The summit of snoqaulmie which has a good park. Then between and hour in a half to 2 hours away is Stevens and Crystal. Both great. Then Baker is about 3 hours away and well Baked is pretty much the best mountain we have. They are all good though but not dry powder like Utah.

The skiing in WA is terrible, what are you talking about. Its always wet, you get a 4 month drought of snow between opening weekend and closing weekend storms, the terrain is appalling, and all the good sidecountry or BC is full of joeys.

Dont waste your time, look at Colorado or Cali for good skiing. Tell your friends and family to avoid skiing in the NW as well.

UW is a terrific school though.

UW doesnt even have the best engineering school in the state. You better love hipsters, emos, and hipsteremos if you are gonna live in seattle. I would rate the girl situation a 5/10 in terms of the rest of the pac-12.


Skiing is good, but believe the hype regarding the lack of sun. you will go literally months a time only seeing the sun 3 or 4 times. Makes you really appreciate nice weather though.




Oh, and lastly Apple cup is too much fun, but keep your mouth shut when you visit pullman, or you will get punked...not joking.

I go to UW with Shampson as well. I love it there, a ton of fun, the campus is great and it is a great school.

I just went to MSU monday and loved it! plus Big Sky isnt too far away and it looks dope. Im at U of Utah right now and the city is like a smaller Seattle. Its kind of nice. Have you thought about the Sierra Nevada College on Lake Tahoe? I stayed at the hotel right next to it and its such a nice location! CO would be nice too! They just dont have my program. But really consider MSU, they have a really good engineering program and such. What are you looking to study?

UW has had 78 minutes where it was 80 degrees or more this year. Yes, just over 1 hour.

Stay away from Washington. It sucks. UW is good though.

CU boulder has an amazing engineering program and its CU boulder so you have some of the best skiing in the world about an hour and a half drive away.

just a thought if you can make it out there and afford its ridiculous out of state prices
