Could Olympic slopestyle give us a video game

Now that freeskiing will be exposed to a huge market via the winter olympiad it could help to push for a proper budget and development of a video game that we could all be stoked on. I see this a one of the positives of our sport making it onto the huge mainstream stage. While for the purist the X Games is the pinnacle of the competition scene it doesn't come close to the exposure that the olympics has and will connect our sport with people who will never go skiing but after seeing it may want eto try it as a virtual experience.
In my opinion I just dont think that a freeskiing game currently would sell enough copies. even if everyone on NS bought a game that would not be enough revenue to entice a game studio to put the time into developing it but with the exposure of a sport, its athletes and brands on an olympic level we could see an awesome skiing game pop out in 2014. Its a long time to wait but it could be what we have been waiting for.

IMO if they did make a game it would be another SSX-like game where completely unrealistic tricks and "grabs" will be thrown with quadruple flips, because that's what the 95 percent of the target audience who doesn't understand a true NS'ers interpretation of a cool trick would like in a game. a video game with slow, smooth, stylie tricks, realistic jumps, rails, parks, and mountains, and real-life characters such as B&E, the TC crew, wallisch, hornbeck, dadali, delorme, the stept crew, etc is far from happening, even though that is the game i would buy.

You just don't know how to play SSX: On Tour. There are many ways to make the game more realistic. Easiest is to use crappier skis, but the best way is to hit the opposite direction you want to spin right after you start spinning/flipping slows down the rotation. That plus elizabeths makes the game so much more fun. And some of the tricks you can do in that game are starting to become more realistic.

this. only downside is the way they count rotations for rodeos. It bothers me that a rodeo 9 is considered a rodeo 5 by the game

people don't realize how boring a true NS-desired skiing game actually would be.


To put it simply...no one wants to do a stylie 540. No one outside of NS at least. People want to throw an absurd number of spins, and see how many grabs they can fit in before they hit the ground. That's it. No game that does otherwise will sell particularly well.



I wouldn't be surprised if an official olympics 2014 game came out that included some skiing, but it would most likely be awful, as those games tend to be.

even though this has been said 1000000000000000 times, if they made a skiing/snowboarding (sadly i highly doubt a skiing game could sell well on its own) game like skate, it could be really good because skate is as realistic as you want it to be. you can do crazy shit that appeals to people that dont skate, but u can also do realistic things in it. If there was a skiing/snowboarding game like this, everyone would be happy, not just ppl on NS, and it could possibly sell well

that game is not realistic i love doing nollie 360 hard flip to backside blunt to 360 inward heal out in real life because you know they've been done for yeah totally realistic.

It's definitely possible to have a game where you can spin like crazy and still do slow stylie shit. Whenever i play amped 2 I always type in the "superspin" cheat. That way you can still do a super slow 3 followed by a triple cork 2160 on the next jump.

This game already exists. MYTP2 Freeskiing. I play it on my iPhone lots. You get points for being stylish and it's hard to get on rails. It's not perfect but it's pretty damn good. Searchbar it on google or NS.

Not sure if anyone will take this seriously, but this winter at my local hill (grouse mountain) there were some guys doing audio work of some pro snowboarder hitting rails and jumps. They were for sure professional, half the park got closed off for them and they were doing sled laps the whole time. They said it was for a video game, EA? Who knows.
