that's a classic downfall of hddslrs, its called moire and it happens because the cameras sensor cant recongize whats going on in finely detailed areas. So it trys and you get that ugly rainbow stripes where there are small details. It has nothing to do with what mode you shoot in, just avoid shooting things like brick walls.
Haha should have done your research man. But that camera is still capable of a ton, regardless of how it makes brick walls look. Don't let it get you any less stoked on shooting.
