Check out this hunt on Kodiak Island.  The bear is so huge.  Looks like it would be out of a movie.

Haha this is great to see.  You NS are a bunch of pussies.  Obviously no one truly hunts on here.  Kodiak Island produces some of the largest bears in the world.  Hundreds of hunters go there to bear hunt each year and that bear has to be close to 20 years old.  It's obviously a smart bear or it would be dead by now.  Also I would never want to kill that big of a bear with anything less than a high powered rifle.  A bear that big doesn't think twice about eating a human and just like any dangerous game whether it's Alaska or Africa, you shoot whatever till it stops moving and is dead.  Also when they say they "tagged" it they mean they put a tag on it that is required by FWP so they know it's not poached haha, not tagged and released you retards.  And finally killing  a bear that big is fucking badass.  Anyone can go kill a little bear.  These guys are trophy hunters, they passed on the earlier bear and would have left empty handed had they not seen this guy so chance to just kill something wasn't their goal you idiots.  Killing this bear is no different than killing any other animal.

For all of you that are anti-hunters.....Please never drive a car.  Do you know how many cars kill animals everyday? Also, a bear at 20 years old is no longer capable of mating and will die of old age anyways, and at that size it is probably killing off any food source animals in Kodiak.  Think before you speak and think about all those beautiful cows, chickens and pigs you ate today that were strangled to death by a coat hanger and then shredded by a wood chipper.

Yes they eat the bear. Plus its fucking kodiak island, its legendary for producing giant kodiak brown bears, which also makes it the most dangerous place to hunt in north america.

A tag in hunting is something that you buy in order to legally kill a certain animal. If you have one bear tag you can kill one bear.

It's very clear to me that absolutely NO ONE in this thread has even the slightest grasp on wildlife populations, population dynamics, conservation, a sustainable hunting system, or generally anything involving anything natural and "wild-like". This especially troubles me since I'm getting a degree in wildlife biology. While I first fully supported the bear lovers (and still do), I now realize that absolutely no one in this thread is making any logical sense, but instead looking at their own view as the only correct view. Jesus Christ people.... stop listening to and repeating word for word what your parents say, form your own opinion.... pause.... DONT STATE IT YET.... think about your opinion for a while, research the facts..... AND THEN get into an argument.... that's all I have to say about all of this. The nature of the argument has become more frustrating than the issue itself.... so so frustrating.

I'm not someone that's against hunting, afterall it's why humans even exist today.  But come on, they straight up killed that bear to feed their damn ego.  Even if they ate all the meat (which i highly fucken doubt) they could have fed themselves with something much easier and closer to home.  These fuckers spent money to travel to this island, which they could have just stayed closer to home or even spent that money at a damn grocery store. 

Hunting for sport is bullshit.  If you hunt to survive and feed yourself/your family it's all good, but look what these fuckers are wearing and shooting.  You can't tell me they can't buy food.  Hunting for survival means hunting in your own backyard, not traveling to some remote island.

what are you talking about? he didn't explain anything or show any more knowledge than anyone ignorant of hunting would have not known. he didn't argue his point, he just mentioned various things and then asserted that killing something that big is "badass"

I'd say he showed a bit of knowledge, have you ever been to Kodiak? He also made a good point that killing a bear is no different than killing any other animal. If you hunt deer but you're going to get all upset about someone shooting a bear, you're the definition of a hypocrite. It's just funny to watch people argue over things like this because no matter what people say other people aren't going to change how they feel about the issue.

natives used to hunt them with 20 foot long spears with 2 foot long blades on them. They would find the bear, make some noise, let it charge, brace themselves and pray their aim was true. They also only did so very rarely because they weren't insecure little men who got off on killing things.

The amount of ignorance in this thread is unbearable. No pun intended.

It would be fucking badass to have that as a trophy. Hunting is hunting. You respect the animal you have taken, regardless of its size. Bears reproduce just like everything else, there will be another monster. He had a legitimate tag and he killed the bear of a lifetime, I don't see the big deal.

It's not void.  Like I said, I'm not against hunting/killing animals for the right reasons.  People are omnivores and have to eat afterall.  My point was that they payed money to travel to some remote island just to kill bears, a hunting vacation.  That's not hunting for survival/food, or they'd be in their own region hunting to bring it back to the table.   Hunting for sport is not the same thing as doing it out of necessity. 

So it's funny that you take it as an insult against you or something because I guess you hunt.  Too bad I'm not against hunting, just not for ego boosts and bragging rights.

The experience of a big game hunt is hard to explain to someone who hasn't gone on one. Most people just see it as killing, but its not. Im not trying to act condescending and theres no super secret info to be dropped. You are just a fucking pussy that doesn't and will never appreciate hunting as a sport. RubberSoul, think about it this way. They eat the bear meat, maybe donating some to local villages. Nothing goes to waste there. Would you rather see someone go out and kill 4 smaller bears, taking 4 lives, or someone go out and kill one bear getting the same amount of meat? I don't understand why size has anything to do with the kill. Of course someone going out to hunt is going to try and kill the biggest, it's the most efficient. Yeah it's also something to brag about, but that's just because you don't see huge animals every day.

The argument of how traveling to kill is unethical doesn't make sense either, if hes going to go bear hunting and take a life, why does it matter where it came from? i travel hunting deer all the time, not because i need to, but because there are more deer in one area. A life is a life, no matter where you are.
