no! i couldn't imagine killing something like that. i mean, i'm by no means a vegetarian or an animal rights person, but bears are so cute and cool and awesome. poor bear. do people even eat bear? or do they just take it for its skin? hunting for trophies makes me sad.

Nah that shit makes me feel sick. I don't understand what it is about killing animals that gets people off, it was a beautiful creature that didn't grow that big just to be slaughtered. Poor thing.

It's disgraceful.

I go on a couple of deer hunting trips a year but it's a lot different than hunting bears. Deer are very difficult to stalk and get close to. There's a lot of skill/patience involved and deer are pests. This bear actually walked towards the hunters, not much harder than fish in a barrel. Not to mention bears are the most awesome animals in the world IMO

And six rounds to kill it? That's shocking.

How insecure do you have to be about yourself to go senselessly kill such an amazing animal? I bet these wankers got a huge ego boost and think this kill qualifies them as men now.

I hope the bears get revenge and eat both of them.

I agree, how can destroying such a beautiful animal make someone proud of themselves? All it does is showcase the fact that they are cowards and are so insecure regarding their masculinity that they need to and kill the biggest thing they can find just to "prove themselves"

I enjoy hunting a little, duck/deer, I think going bear hunting would be sick, but I mean with a bear as prized as that (size of a fucking truck!) they should have left it alone. That bear had more of a right to be on that island then they did. I mean take down a smaller bear, not (possibly) the biggest bear left in existence.

Its shit like this that makes me not want people to find the "lock ness monster" or big foot, people will just want to kill if to say they did...

Seven shots of .338! .338 Lapua is probably one of my favorite long range big rounds. It is like .50 in that if you hit what you are shooting at (human sized) there usually is not much left to look at. It is a very powerful round. That is a very powerful animal. Grizzlies, and Kodiak's especially are one of the few living things that I am truly scared of.

Yeah if I saw that bear I don't think I would shoot it. I am by no means a hippy or anything, but I feel kinda like an animal that big and majestic should just be left to continue being a bad ass, not dinner. Find another regular sized bear to eat IMO. Kinda the same principle as throwing back massive fish.

im all for hunting. however i think its fucking bullshit that some 150 lb man with a huge rifle should have the right to shoot a predator like that for sport in that way. that bear is a prime specimen of what happens when good genetics and good luck happen. to kill it in such a pussy way is just not right. same goes for all predators. they are king of their jungle and some asshole with 10 grand can just walk in and kill it? its just pussy shit. u wanna kill it with a knife or a javelin...go right ahead cuz you need a pair of nuts to get that close to an animal that size. the mentality of being proud to shoot an animal with a high powered rifle is the same mentality as a full grown man picking a fight with a ten yr old, kicking his ass, and then bragging to all his friends about how awesome he is.

I will give you a high powered rifle, with attached scope, 10 perfectly loaded rounds, I will start 200m away with a rock; and I don't do fair fights.

as previously stated, i dont think that was a very skillful hunt either. they spotted the animal from 3 miles away and managed to close that distance to 175 yards with in a few hours?! they must been hauling over that terrain, clearly the animal wasn't threatened by the obvious presence they were making. and a 175 yard shot on a target that big with a scoped rifle, for someone who uses firearms, should not be very difficult.

im am slightly saddened by this

Yeah I guess with any animal at the top of the food chain (bears, lions, wolves etc) they're not particularly weary or threatened by humans.

The bear would've thought if the hunters got too close that it could have easily fucked them up. Making it pretty comfortable with their presence. Hence making it such an easy animal to get close to.

And hitting a bear from 175 yards would be an easy shot for almost anyone. Jesus, get any closer and you could've thrown the bullet at it haha

Look at what the hunters are wearing. Clearly they want to be marines but are too pussy so shoot bears to make themselves feel better about their tiny cocks.
