I'm coming to Toronto in September from school. Worth bringing a pair of skis for weekends? I'm from the Kootenays and spent all this year skiing pow so will i just be disappointed if i try and ski? super excited to move to toronto, just trying to figure out if i should bring skis!
but seriously theres no pow what so ever. some pretty dope parks though. mt st louis is the best but blue is pretty good as well and it has a nightlife so you can go for the weekend. a few smaller places closer to toronto like dagmar, lakeridge, glen eden have alright parks but nothing compared to louis
What school are you going too in toronto/ where? The closest hill is Mount Saint Louis Moonstone, it has one of the best parks in the province and is roughly an hour and ten or so minutes from Downtown toronto, so if you are in to that stuff then there is no question. But you might as well leave them at home if you are looking for pow or backcountry.
Well, like Brock said, the closest place I really would describe as a hill is MSLM... But a couple minutes north/northeast of the city are Lakeridge and Dagmar. Both are 100 ish meter hills and both have pretty nice parks, bit it's nothing like MSLM. You have a bunch of options to ski at, they just will not be powder whatsoever. Feel free to come and ride at Lakeridge with me and my buddies!
hahahha shiiiiit. Yeah I really dont consider myself much of a park skier - but hey, now's the time to learn, right?! I can slide most rails out there and spin up to a 9 on park jumps, so i figure i'll take the next four years to get park tricks on lock! Which leads me to ask, anyone going to Ryerson University wanna go skiing next winter?
My friend's going to OCAD, but as a demographic, I find that not a lot of kids really go to OCAD or Ryerson if they live in Toronto already. But again, head up to Blue or MSLM if you want some really nice parks, but if you want a shorter drive for some mediocre parks Lakeridge (where I ski) and Dagmar would be perfect. My friends and I sometimes carpool up to MSLM, I think we could save a spot for you if you would like to join.
I live like 2 minutes from ryerson if Im staying in the city that weekend, feel free to shoot me a message if you ever need a ride there and back and I might be able to help you out!
Opted out on bringing my skis, whatever. I'm taking photography at Ryerson so its there's ever snow downtown here and people are hitting urban, I'd be pumped to shoot it. yip yip!
