With the rocker it will do better in pow than a traditional cambered park ski, but keep in mind it is 88mm underfoot and a symmetrical ski. If you want a park ski that will perform in powder better than the FR i would suggest the Jeronimo.
Forgot to mention that I was impressed with the way they handled they 6" of new wet snow on the flat runs of Timberline. However I would never recommend anything as small as a Filthy Rich for skiing powder.
Well I live in Pennsylvania so i will almost always be skiing park, but I go out west for about 14 days a year, so I need something that can handle powder and out of park stuff well. I am also looking at Halo's, which have 3 stage rocker, but its only 83 in the waist. How will those handle?
the thing about jmos are that i have skiied line blends which are only 4 mm fatter in the park and i just don't like the feel of a fatter ski in the park. my waist range is mid to high 80's
If you're looking at pow performance for something that narrow... well, its difficult, all centermounted skis that size will kinda do the same thing in pow - give you tickets to the shin bang concert. No matter what you get, with a centered 80ish ski, its going to sink, and you're going to need to ski it backseat in anything deep or wet.
We dont do rocker on the FR with powder in mind, its rocker designed for the park setting. Rocker will help keep the tips up a little better in pow though, should be better than a regular cambered park ski in the deep stuff. If you're a good skier, you should be able to slay pow on nearly anything - I saw a 40 year old aerials coach at Stevens mob through Grace Lakes in knee deep snow on centered Alpha 1's with absolutely no trouble at all. Rocker on your park skis might give you a slight advantage, but in the end, you're using a park ski in powder.
this is the answer I expected. However this is also the reply I was hoping for. Consequently, this thread's creation was not necessary, and I apologize.
