with all the drug threads on nsg right now i figured it would be appropriate to make this. im 20 years old, and smoke weed 2-3 days a week (yeah im cool i know). i have yet to try any other kind of psychedelic drug but have been contemplating trying acid. ive heard its wise to try mushrooms first but ive heard more good things about acid than shrooms. what is your opinion on acid/ what kind of expiriences have you had?

ill start off by saying its not for everybody. however if used responsibly i think LSD can have some personal benefits to the person taking it. i would not recommend doing it in a party or club atmosphere your first time (or ever really even though this is definitely where it is most prevalent). at low doses acid will cause you to see things differently (duh). but not just in a physical sense, it lets you reexamine alot of the things you think about in a new light and can help bring about some interesting realizations. Personally the best place ive found to trip is in nature where you can wander and explore, and you dont really have to worry about messing around with normal civilization. So i guess my view on acid is that it can kind of be a tool for helping you grow yourself and basically reexamining the way you live your life. after saying that i would like to say that i am not all for acid (or any drug really though i have experimented) because though i feel it has helped me see some parts of my life in a new light, it is kinda fucked that it took a synthetic chemical to bring these realizations. Also despite my suggestions i have done it at parties and concerts, not a ton but enough, and while i guess it was entertaining i dont feel like those situations are really good times to experience or use acid. LSD will make you think and feel differently than you ever have and if that is something you think you are ready or would like to experience then go for it. Just dont abuse or underestimate it. Also, low doses are best, ive never done very much at once and i personally havent had a terrible experience, also it allows you to still maintain some level of coherence throughout the trip. Larger doses will remove you from reality. yeah.

Psychedelic trips be really eye opening, life changing experiences if you approach them in the right way. You have to be in a positive mindset about it and you have to understand that there's no way to anticipate the experience. You have to just go with the flow. With LSD especially, you should make sure that you are getting it from a trustworthy source and that you plan some shit out ahead of time (where, when, etc.). Spur of the moment stuff can lead to uncertainty which can lead to anxiety which will inadvertently lead to a bad trip. For your first time frying, I would recommend being outdoors with close friends that you can trust. Also, it's usually best to avoid large crowds of people. Don't do it if you feel any reluctance and don't do it for the wrong reasons (because it's cool, to get fucked up, etc.). Hallucinogens are way more powerful than a lot of people realize.

This is completely false. Being schizophrenic =/= flashbacks. If you are prone to schizophrenia, acid will definitely play a big role in developing sooner. There is no fluid in your spine from acid.

A good trip with good people is very very therapeutic for me, very stress/anxiety relieving.  I hope everyone has a chance to get to that point, because it's an amazing refreshing feeling, even up to 3 months afterwards.

Haha man you are wrong and spewing harmful info at everyone. That woman your sister knew had schizophrenia, and lsd BROUGHT it on, not caused it. Flashbacks can happen to some people, but most people i know have never had a flashback. Also the amount you use it has nothing to do with flashbacks and you have no idea what you are talking about. Educate yourself.

I don't buy the whole "my sister studies medicine so she knows everything about LSD" rationale. It is true that acid can bring out (not cause) schizophrenia in people who are already genetically predisposed to the disease and it's true that minor flashbacks can occur down the line (usually requiring some sort of trigger). But the story about the woman looking for her daughter is ridiculous. LSD doesn't do that shit to people (unless of course she was genetically predisposed to schizophrenia)

Key word being onset, not cause. It can trigger it only if you already have the genes (which you should probably look into before taking it). But it doesn't just randomly make people schizophrenic.

Also, what mental disorders does it onset besides schizophrenia?

if you want to do it, do it. Make sure to track down some really good, clean shit. Find the right person. This isn't the, oh my roomate has acid kind of thing. You gotta find somebody legit. You want LSD the experience, you don't want"acid" the bunk party drug where nothing happens.


Also good to make sure you don't end up with any chem'd up shit.


Don't take a bunch the first time. Half a hit or a hit is good for a lot of people. You really don't want to take a bunch and get anxious, that'll make things shitty. Make sure you are with some good people to look out for you. And by good people, people who know what the fuck their doing and how to handle somebody tripping. People with prior experience.

There is always the chance you're going to find bunk shit or lsa. But even if you feel like nothing is happening, don't start eating more.

It's kind of a oh shit feeling when you eat a bunch more and literally right after you put it in your mouth you're noticing that you're coming up on the other ones from earlier. Then you know you're gonna peak fucking hard at some point.

Worst case strap on your space suit and go with it. The worst thing you can do is fight it, even if you're nervous or too high. That's another reason why you need good people with you. It's amazing how good company can turn you out of a bad trip.

i dont know much about either, but one of my good friends tried lsd on a canoe trip or something, and now everytime he smokes weed with me, he has like flashbacks and shit. and it trips me out cause he freaks out.

Sorry for the double post...

I wonder how much of these horror stories in this thread are actually from LSD. I'd guess that they're either made up, exaggerated, or from a research chemical. Know and trust your source before you eat it. LSD is one of the most pure and beautiful experiences you can have, while other hallucinogens are not.

ive done shrooms once and it was pretty cool, but my personal rule is that i dont do anything man made, and correct me if im wrong but all acid and LCD is coming from some sketchy "chemist" with a lab in his trailer, correct?

Acid is LSD. LSD is acid. You either get lsd, ripped off, or another drug which is probably lsa. If your buying from someone reputable, its hard to get ripped off, and its such a little amount you eat, not many drugs are active in such little amounts.

my logic is that something that grows in the ground cant be as bad for you as something man made with chemicals, but i dunno. from what ive seen in cartoons, looks like they have a similar effect. but in cartoons people go on wild trips after 1 hit of a joint so nevermind actually.

This. Arsenic is natural. So are countless other types of poisonous mushrooms that grow in the ground. I would trust something man-made (designed to NOT kill you) over something natural.

But in reality, psylocibin and LSD are very similar in their adverse effects to the human body (ie NONE). It's really a matter of personal preference of the high you like. They both can trigger underlying mental illnesses in large doses. Other than that, there is no risk from taking a low dose of hallucinogens. It's not stored in your spine, you don't get crazy flashbacks, it doesn't destroy your brain, etc etc. The bullshit spread about LSD is at Reefer Madness levels of absurdity.
