Jailbreaking my iphone

im jailbreaking my iphone so i can change the carrier, blackra1n fucked up and so now i downloaded greenpois0n. when i follow through with the process, the iphone goes into recovery and nothing happens. whats going wrong?

im not trying to modify anything except for the carrier, because i need to jailbreak/unlock it to change my carrier

Update to the latest firmware 4.3.5 and use redsn0w to jailbreak your device.

I don't think you can update to 4.3.5 because the 3G is a earlier model and it stops at 4.2.1. I think but I could be wrong but I don't think so.

You should go to forums and check whether the Evasion Jailbreak works or not. There is a chance it will spoil your phone if it doesn't work so best to check online thoroughly.
