There was the Crack epidemic in the 80's, the heroin epidemic, and the hippie movement in the 60's (lsd, mushys and ganja). Then around 2000 when oxycotion came out there was a big epidemic thats still going on in alot of places but people don't really hear alot about it really. But around where i live there are alot of people hooked on these pills (oxys, hydros, morphine, fetanol, perocet, etc).
People snort, smoke, swallow, or smoke these pills. Most of them are basically synthetic heroin that are usually easier for people to get ahold of then actual heroin. They are very very addictive. I have friends that are hooked on them and I've dealt with a slight addiction that I have recently over come. They fun at first but you dont really realize how addictive they are at first and it comes on very quickly. They really bring out the worst in some people. People will steal, screw over and do whatever they need to do to get the pills that they need to feed their addiction, its truely sad to see expiecally when at one time they actually needed the pills for a legitimate reason then when the doctors take them off they are forced to get them on the streets.
The government has tried to do things to make it so people couldnt abuse the pills as much such as adding a speical coating to certain pills so you could not crush them or adding tylenol so they werent as appealing to snort you cant smoke them (to my knowledge but i have never smoked or shot up a pill). But they still cant eliminate the pills themselves because people legitimately need them for pain. Which is a very sad thing. Hopefully they can devlop a painkiller that is non addictive and works. The pills are also harmful to the body hurting the liver, brain, kidneys, heart and other areas of the body. The pills that are cut with actmetaphin(sp) which is basically tylenol are espiecally harmful the the liver and when drinking on them are super damaging to the liver it causes perment damage.
I really hate to see people get addicted to these pills and the reason I am writing this post is to help spread knowledge to people because most people dont really know a lot about this so hopefully you learned something you didnt know and it will help you out at some point. Please spread the word and if you have any friends that have a painkiller addiction try to help them. Sorry for the super long post!
