dope first T2i edit man! i enjoyed it
-when filming animals, especially dogs, get down to their level. make the viewer feel like they're in the dog's world. also, do a lot of quicker cuts instead of longer shots of trying to follow the dog around.
-when filming lifestyle shots, instead of just pulling the entire shot from out of focus, try to maybe instead get a nice shallow depth of field shot on the subject's face, or do a rack focus to get them into focus (focusing on one thing then pulling focus to focus on another).
-when filming behind leaves, don't let them be too close to the lens and too in focus, otherwise it is too obvious what you are trying to do. it is a mistake i used to make a lot. make it a little more subtle. also, make sure you don't block your subject.
-make sure your pans are as smooth as possible. try it over and over until you get a smooth one
-tight shot at 00:42 started really nice. when using a DSLR, try to ever avoid zooming while filming (there are some cases where it's ok, but in general avoid it), it is just too jerky. and this is even more true if you're using a lens that changes aperture (such as the kit lens) because you can notice the image change exposure.
-a pan like the one at 00:48 is good, just make sure you keep panning or slow down gradually, don't suddenly stop the camera movement.
-the thing about tramps, and you seem to know this to some degree, is that a lot of people shoot them the same. so you have to get creative to make the shots unique to the viewer. get low, get high, pan, tilt, use a dolly movement, anything to mix it up a little
hope that helps!
