How to create a fisheye lens effect without a fisheye lens

I totally wish I had a fisheye lens, which is why I learned out to create one using Photoshop. The fisheye lens adds such a dramatic effect and damn will your picture look good when you follow my steps to make one.

1. choose the eliptical tool, hold down shift and drag over the area where you want the picture to have the effect. (holding down shift only makes the circle an even circle when you drag it. you dont have to hold down shift but it helps it look more realistic)

2. on your top bar go to select and choose inverse (make sure your foreground color is black)

3. after you do that then press the delete button on your keyboard

4. once you have done that then use your paint bucket tool and paint the free space black

5. once again go to select and then inverse

6. after that go to filter which is on your top bar and go to distort and off of that choose spherize (keep it at 100% and normal)

7. go to the select bar and then choose deselect

boom your done. very simple stuff. post your pictures that you used this effect on.

People don't use fisheye lenses for the "look" (well they shouldn't), they use it so that they can have a much wider angle of view, so adding the effect in post is pointless.

Its like that point and shoot that had a fish eye mode, it didn't actually give you a wider view just put a fisheye effect on you photos, pretty pointless actually. I have heard of ways to take the distortion out of fisheye photos, thus getting rid of the fisheye effect, this makes sense not vice versa.

And also, eharth what do you have against hipsters?

They take things that were normal and not popular and blow them up and make them shitty.

ie (not personal) but fixies used to be normal and no one gave a fuck and now they're an icon for hipsters and now they suck. They pretty much make shit thats cool into something mainstream and ruin it for people who aren't trying to be trendy or hip.

Literally the only major thing they have done that with is fixed gears. But i feel you on that one, i wish i could rock a fixie without looking like one of the hundreds of 20some year old washed up dipshits riding them around my town

Well, this girl posting a thread about making a fisheye photo is trendy as fuck, only some stupid ass hipster would want to turn their picture into a fisheye photo to make it look cool as fuck and brag to their friends.

I'm not even sure how that responds to my post so im not sure how to respond to that post, but all right. Hipsters suck and the effect in the OP is pointless.

Also you accepted me as a friend on facebook, i dont remember requesting you so it must have been like two years ago.

This kind of attitude is almost as bad as being a trend whore. An anti-trend whore, if you will. If skiing became a new cool sport that the mainstream thought was cool would you stop skiing?

Fisheye effects though? Super cool.

I'm more talking about guys wearing those items. I don't like skin tight, but I wear skinnier jeans. Now whenever I put on a flannel and jeans, people make stupid comments about how hip I am. Fuck that.
