I would like to see all the newschoolers who have quit the Ganja and why.

I quit weed and why i quit is because I stopped being ignorant and realized iwas to young to be smoking an illegal drug.

tell that to my friend's cousin.  he said he'd never smoke weed.  tried it once, then again, and again.  smoked it everyday for awhile.  when he started smoking weed, said he'd never do anything more serious than that.  tried coke once, then again, and again.  see where i'm going?

well, when i think gateway drug, i think of it like this.  if somebody decides to try weed like me, it's a big step.  my whole life i've viewed smoking as terrible, cause that's what my parents made it out to be.  so it took awhile for the peer pressure and just everyone saying it was alright to make me realize it wasn't a big deal.  now i view weed as nothing, basically i compare it to alcohol.  so now something that has been terrible my ENTIRE life is okay, who says that can't happen with other drugs?  in my opinion, people who do hardcore drugs got there cause they were smoking weed and didn't see it as a big deal.  that's my OPINION.  i didn't take a survey of a gajillion drug addicts to get this, just a simple observation.  please correct me if you think i'm wrong.

this is exactly how i was, at first i thought weed was like meth and belived all that gay shit then i did it and it was like a whole new world to me but unfortanitly i think it would be best to take a break cause of my age and i should wait maybe tell im going to college or sophmore year. but i think it can be a gateway drug cause of what you just said espically if you dont have moderations for weed. soon you start doing crack and be like oh this nothing etc.

Well idk, just kinda rambled for awhile, just read through that and some of it doesn't make sense. And I personally would never do meth or anything above weed, and I know a lot of dedicated weed smokers who wouldn't either. And plus I'm on my iPod so it's hard to read everything I type before I post it if it's a long post.

I can genuinely say that marijuana has improved my quality of life. It helps me notice things that I might otherwise overlook, it boosts my creativity, it's brought me closer to my friends and family, it's matured my worldview, and made me an overall happier person.

As for the negative effects that people have mentioned:
-Marijuana is not bad for you, inhaling smoke is. Use a vaporizer if you are legitimately concerned.

-It doesn't affect your academic performance or motivation. I smoke weed everyday while maintaining a 4.1 gpa. I got a 2150 on my SAT and a 32 on my ACT, smoked a ton of weed the night before both of them. If your grades start to slip when you balze, take a look at yourself instead of blaming a harmless plant

-Girls don't like it? If a girl dislikes me because I smoke weed than she is probably a shallow bitch that I wouldn't want to associate myself with in the first place.


To the OP, good call man. If you feel like you're too young, taking a break for a year or two is probably a great idea. You have all the time in the world to get high and you wouldn't want to ruin it for yourself by doing too much too early.

I understand exactly what you're saying, but some people are just super addictive.  They'd get hooked on huffing gas/paint/jenkem if there was no weed around.  That guy would most likely be an alcoholic if he wasn't a pothead- I'd rather have him stoned personally, drunks scare me.  Furthermore, most people identify with cigarettes and alcohol as their first foray into the forbidden, so let's be absolutely clear on that and not proliferate stereotypes.  I feel like the majority of NS is smart enough to handle that concept. 

The biggest problem with weed being identified as a gateway drug is that it's sold by drug dealers who most likely have other shit for sale too.  If it was legal everywhere and sold in liquor stores, you'd get far less crossovers as the same guy wouldn't be selling yayo too.   

The biggest thing for me personally tho was that before I even graduated HS, 9 kids I went to school with died in drunk driving accidents.  Also, my dad used to be a mean lush when I was younger.  I don't know anyone who has even stubbed a toe while high, and I've never seen someone get  blazed and turn into an aggressive asshole after their 5th hit, y'know?  Every one of us has seen someone drink too much and act a fkn fool-  I don't need a law to tell me what's the lesser of two evils, my common sense works just fine.  I'm not saying it's good I smoke, I'm saying it isn't anywhere near as bad/dangerous/detrimental to my health as some think and it is WAY better for you than alcohol.

I don't know man, I think the academic issue varies by person. I've got shit figured out and make good grades and smoke a lot but I can't combine weed and school. Just doesn't work for me. Though it does actually help a lot of people with class, so I ain't knockin it. True that on the girl thing. I'm pretty sure most of the kids sayin that are in high school. If a girl doesn't like something you enjoy, how could you enjoy that girl? To sum it up for everyone: you only get one life, enjoy it. (fuck off, reincarnated pseudo-Buddhist hippies)

I know someone who started smoking cigs in the fourth grade and then started smoking weed in the sixth. Hes a senior in highschool now and hes probably going to amount to barely anything, which really saddens me because he is probably one of the nicest people i know. But hes one of the people that bases his life around weed and only thinks and does that, he also does other drugs but nothing too hardcore. Its very good of you to stop now so that it doesn't take over your life and you can actually amount to something.

ive recently quite, have not smoked in a month and a half and wont start again garenteed

i quit because after three years of smoking multiple times daily i got sick of it. eventually to the point of after id rip the bong i would just be hangin out and wishing i was stoned. kinda of jus grew out of it i guess. im 21 now and feeling sober for an extended period of time is nice.
