I received this message yesterday...
"Hi Jeff,
I'm a footage researcher working on an industrial video for MINI. We saw your film on Vimeo, Skinny Dipping and would like to license a short clip from it to use in our video, I tried to contact you through vimeo but couldn't find an email///excuse my facebook request. You can email at my work address which is shari@researchandrights.com
Many Many thanks! Looking forward to hearing from you,
What we need to know:
license fees for non bcast industrial use
can you deliver hi=res of our selection to us?"
so I responded to ask for more info and she replied with -
"Hi Jeff,
Thanks so much for your email. I am doing footage research for MINI....it's a :60 second video to be shown at the Frankfurt Car Show, and other non broadcast industrial use.
The theme is breaking out of the mold....independence, creativity - all things the depict a MINI driver....
We are interested in possibly licensing approximately :10 seconds of footage from your film. You would NOT lose rights to any footage in your film, we are not "buying" the film or the rights, we are simply licensing them for use in this one video. All rights to the footage remain yours and yours alone.
Can you let me know how we would proceed? Let me know your interest, your potential license fees for this usage and if you are able to upload hi-res footage of our selection (s). I very much look forward to hearing from you."
Here is the video in question (some mild male nudity):
No idea how they found this random clip or why MINI would want to use it, but I don't really know anything about this stuff so what should I do?
