Dirt Jumps

Hey, I am going to be building a a few dirt jumps in my back yard and was wondering what material is the best.
Talking to landscape companies they are telling me to get quarry dust which will supposedly help it pack better and not corrode. Or I could buy dirt fill but that might corrode.

The dirt is a lot cheaper than the quarry dust.
Any suggestions from or knowledge from personal experience.

my dirt jumps are made out of 50% dirt and 50% jump.

Top soil.

You don't want anything sandy, it will be a pain in the ass. Top soil packs really well, if you get some grass growing on the insides of the gaps that will actually help stop erosion so just leave it.


We would spray paint an x, call the guy up, and get two piles of top soil dropped off. Some of it we dug out by hand, like spots that went below ground level, and some burms and more jumps deeper in the woods.


Tarp that shit off while it's fresh, You don't want the jump to wash away right after you build it.


You can make a big starting ramp out of anything. We had 3 doors, coming out of a dirt pile with a xx4 frame up top and some ply wood. Came down into a nice dirt tranny with plenty of time to get speed into the first big jump/

The best is a 80% clay mix with a 20% topsoil. This is what my jumps are made up and it is awesome

haha. but in all seriousness you will obviously need dirt. so dig around or order some dirt. then you will need a hose to reach them to water them down every now and then. also on mine a keep a carpet on the landing when it's wet outside to avoid getting ruts. good luck.
