okay so i have wide feet and I had Kreations 2 years ago. They were not warm boots which i need because i live in the east( -30*C). these boots fit well and i was thinking of getting SPK's or Kaos's. Are they warmer? Are they stiffer - do i want a stiffer boot for park if i do more jumps than rail? Is it worth spending the extra money to get spk's or kaos's? How are the liners? Really what is the reall difference between the 3 boots?

 old koas and pro were the same other then the pro was 110 instead of 100 and it had the leather wrap. The kreation, is differnt, it does not have the rubber toe box, or gel heel cushion. It also has a lower grade liner.

Regarding warmth, spks can be quite cold unfortunatly, I have sidas Pro form liners in my pros and there very cold. Intution liners can make an inpovement but wait for the new traditional fit ones rather then the wraparound.

-30*C isnt even that cold, so you shouldn't be shooting boots down based on how warm they are. Depending on how much you ski, If you can cough up a little extra dough i would %100 reccomend the Kaos over ther Kreations. The Kaos have the rubber toe, the gel heel, and It has the liner pull strap which i do not think the kreation has.

-30C = -22F, I would say that's pretty cold for skiing.

Dude for what it's worth the spk pros had some major pressure point issues with the tongues. Supposedly they've addressed it for 2012 but what would happen is the tongue would slip above the liner under hard stress like big landings etc and you would literally have to unbuckle the boots and reach in to pop the tongue past the liner again. Otherwise it would feel like ya had a stone in the top of your boot. I also had issues with the liners feeling as though they were shifting in the shell. I've talked to numerous others who were having the same exact issues. However I never had a warmth issue with em and I'm out on the ice coast too. If your dead set on sollys get next years especially if your thinkin the spk pros. And btw next year they are 100s so if ya need stiffer than that take a look at the ghosts. Hope that helps.

Shitty. I never heard of that, and mine were super nice, and comfy. I guess its hit and miss.

thanks for the info. Are the liners in the spk and kaos any different from the kreations? i just don't want cold feet; it ruins my day:'( would a still boot be better for park or softer or is a personal preference?

I like my boots a little stiffer, and Yes I do beleive the liners are a bit different between the two boots, but i don't think it would effect warmth. but if you're skiing more than 20 days a year, do yourself a favor and get the kaos.

Yeah man if your doin alot of the hub stuff I'd say go with a softer boot but if your more of a big air and high speed type I'd say stiffer. Plus butters and presses are so much easier with a stiffer boot. And yeah as far as those spk pros, the effed up thong is that one foot was super comfy and the other boot was just a nightmare. Everyone I've talked to with the same problem said the same thing, it was just one of the boots and not the other. Weird.

yeah thats what happened to my kreations on the right foot. did this happen with the kaos's to and will it be fixed for next season because i was thinking next years boots.

Yeah dude friggin right boot everytime I ask someone....WTF is up with that? I already have the 12' pros ordered but I'm pretty sure that if they even appear to maybe have that tongue slip again I'm friggin sellin em. But supposedly it's fixed this year so I dunno. These companies gotta listen to the customers sometimes cause when the pros have that prob they just say these aren't right give me another pair. No big deal. But for the average dude who spends $700 on em you don't have that luxury.

Man, sounds like your fit was just super shitty. I've got like ~150 days on my SPK Kaos and never had any of these issues. They were a little bit spacious in the ankle but a small heel lift solved that right away.

I did a season in Fernie (got down to ~-35c) in these and never had issues with cold feet. Most of the time cold feet comes down to poor circulation caused by having your boots too tight. Weird as it sounds, try a thinner (but very high quality) sock and you may find your feet stay a lot warmer.

Yeah the problem only seemed to be on the pros from what I heard but I've only asked others who had the pros and not the rest of the spk line. I hear nothin but good things bout the ghosts though. And seriously it wasn't a fit problem cause I've talked to about five other peeps with the same boot with the same problem on the right boot. Had somethin to do with how and where the locked the thread stitch attaching the plastic to the front of the tongue. While the tongue was inside the liner the lock stitch rested right on the edge of the liner and once it took a shock the tiny gap created by the stitch would cause the toungue to slip past the liner just in that spot. Once it did after two turns you'd be screaming till ya stopped, unbuckled and popped the tongue back into the liner. Design flaw plain and simple straight from a solly reps mouth bud.

I have never personally seen the issue with the tounge in any spks. The forfoot can be tight and we strech quite a few above the forefoot. One problem with the tounge can arise if the boot is heated too much or incorectly either whilst molding or drying. The plastic will shrink slightly when heated to an extreme, which can leave the sharp edge of the plastic exposed which can then push into the foot. This is however only going occur if the boot is fitted or maintained incorrectly.

As for the tounge slipping round to the side on big landings, this could only really be caused by badly fitting boots. The laces hold the tounge in place and if you have the correct fitting boot there is no way the tounge could come out of place when in the shell. The two sides of the liner overlap the tounge and the laces hold the overlapping pieces in place so the tounge simply could not come out. I have been selling SPKs since they came out and have never heard of the issue of tounges moving to the side on landings.

Regarding the differnt boots, they have changed from last season. The pro is unchanged at 110 flex but SPK 90 which was the Koas is no 90 flex rather then 100. This means there is more of a gap between Pro and SPK 90. The SPK 80 is what the kreation was last year, it still has only the basic features though. There is also a new SPK 70 this year, which will be a good boot for woman wanting a soft freestyle boot. Hope this helps

Dude solly said at SIA that next years pros are 100s. If they are 110s they need to get a new rep to work SIA. Haha. And as far as it being impossible for the tongue to slip past the liner. I'm callin booshit buddy. It's not the whole tongue just a small portion right by where the ankle flexes. And it's always the right boot. Didn't you notice that I mentioned the issue and the OP said he had the same prob with his? I guess everyone is just poorly fit huh? Riiiiight.

Damn I wish I could remember my old username. We had a thread goin back when the 10' spks pros first came out. Keep tryin to search it but can't find it. Anyway there were at least five peeps all sayin the same thing. Feels like a stone on the arch side right boot where the top of your foot meets your leg. That's why alot of shops didn't even carry the 11' pros last year. They all said too many fit problems. Maybe your shop got the "good batch". I dunno.

Unfortunately, this is mostly true. But, Salomon could have had a bad batch go out, which could have been why all of those shops were unloading them...

The pro is definatly 110, there was talk that they were going to stiffen it to 120 but unfortunatly that did not happen. The pro has always been 110. The very first SPK when there was just one was 90, but then the next year when they had  the Koas and the Pro, the Pro was 110 and the Kaos was 100. This year they have taken what was the kaos back to a 90 flex.

As for the part regarding the tounge, it really proberly is a fit issue. As I said before we had to sretch the instep occasionally on spks we sold but we never had the problem you mentioned on any boots we sold. we did see pain in the instep on boots sold else wear and it was usally that the boots were just too big,the instep of the foot was in the wrong postion for the boot, it was not an issue with the liner or the shell, but simply a fit issue. Luckily most of the time its easy to sort out.

You must remeber that new schoolers is really not good to find decent information on products. All it takes is a few kids who got there boots online and surprisingly they dont fit well, but they think its an issue with the boot rather then that the boot simply does not fit.
