Nikon D3100: Good choice?

I'm looking at buying a Nikon D3100. I enjoy photography and casually shoot as a hobby, but I'm really interested in the video functions. I'll mainly be using it for my edits with art and clothing, so the video aspect is most important. I want to know if anyone has had experience with this camera or a similar Nikon or Canon camera. I'm especially curious about the video quality. Any suggestions/advice about other cameras are also welcome.
