vibes to the families of the dead and hospitalized.
firstly, edc las vegas wont be getting canceled, seeing as insomniac has a 5 year contract with the city (or so im told). that said, i wouldnt be at all surprised to hear about more deaths/hospitalizations.
this might make me sound like a douche, but what ever happened to the second r in plurr: responsibility? doesnt matter if your rolling or not, you gotta take care of yourself, your friends and fellow ravers. esp in hot climates like dallas, las vegas, etc, you gotta stay hydrated even if your not on a roll, heatstroke happens.
now its time for the serious rant, about idiots od'ing on ecstasy and underage kids going to these events. seriously now, its not that easy to get into trouble when using x, be it molly or, more likely, a methbomb; so long as you take a reasonable amount (1-2 hits), drink some water, and stay cool (pun intended). it breaks my heart when i hear about a kid dying at these events, but seriously shit like this is so avoidable if people just respect the rules and use a little common sense. im not saying rave sober if you dont want to, but if people just used their heads so many of these catastrophes wouldnt happen. this is going to come off as super selfish, but when people act irresponsibly and end up hurting themselves or others, events like these get shut down (edc la anyone?). ive got nothing but love for the rave scene, but i know that a lot of people out there just see it as a bunch of irresponsible idiots getting fucked up and acting stupidly -- bottom line is that when stuff like this happens it really just further reinforces their prejudices and gets more events shut down for the rest of us.
/rant. and like i said before, vibes to the unfortunate.
