That was an awesome awesome interview, well for Stewart that is. I mean, it was a good debate. But since Wallace has fox weighing down on him like crazy, Stewart obviously took that one. I enjoyed that a lot.

I shoulda added this before but one of the things that frequently blows by people is that Jon and Stephen are more than just comedians reading from a prompt, both are very well educated political analysts (stephen graduated from dartmouth, jon from W&M). I love how stephen just makes are satire out of an interview with bill o' reily and bill doesnt even know it.

Wallace did a good job and stewart did a good job.

I wrote this in the last thread about this interview and I am reposting it here.

I'm not so sure either one of them got embarrassed or anyone even won that argument. It seemed more to me that the root of Mr. Fox anchor's argument was totally subjective, and the two of them just different opinions on John Stewarts goals and the goals of Comedy Central. I don't think there was a winner or a looser, just seems like they had different opinions on a subjective matter.

although I don't like Chris Wallace, and I do think that Jon Stewart did a great job at debunking his arguments, I would have to agree with wallace when he said Jon is trying to be a political player.

That might be true if you try to sum up a single point from the interview, however there were so many moments of total failure for Wallace.

He seemed so unintelligent and unable to grasp simple comedic devices like the Palin vs. genital herpes bit. He stumbled and failed to even make a conclusive point about Stewart. All this while Stewart was dismantling the entire network and everything that is wrong with a ideological biased source of "news".

I also think he hit the nail on the head when he explained that the Fox News format works, and that's why there is MSNBC. It's not an ideological difference, it's a ratings war.

personally, I disagree that there was no clear winner. Stewart sounded very intelligent and parried every single argument Wallace made against him. Wallace however, sounded hyperbolic, with the herpes-palin issue and he sounded as though he wasn't sure what the final purpose of the interview was supposed to be. I have an enormous bias towards him, but in my opinion stew beef triumphs

Exactly. I think Wallace "failed" because as soon as Stewart would offer his explanation, he would interrupt by oversimplifying and distorting his answer/ideology as a pretext for his next question. He was only able to get his misinformed point across by not letting Stewart speak and completely missing the point.

And I agree with Stewart about NBC being more focused on sensationalism or absurdity rather than being politically militant. The point that Wallace failed to grasp is that the "liberal" media isn't just bashing republicans for its own sake; they are criticizing bs "news" reports, which just happens to be Fox news because it is such a joke of a network.

If I had to choose between the two parties, I'd say I'm more of a republican (fiscally speaking), but Stewart's logic was so much more articulate and on point. Wallace isn't nearly as awful as Beck or O'Reilly, but to me his sporadic arguments and reductive fallacies make him a more civilized version of the two, in terms of argument.

Fact is, Stewart actually semi gets along with Wallace and Baer which is why Baer and Wallace talk to Stewart on Stewart's show and Stewart ends up on their shows.
