Bobsled Mtn Bike Trail

Good to hear you liked bobsled even with it being a huge mess right now due to a 2 ft deep trench in it. If you are riding a big bike park at Terrace hills trail bikes typicaly come up dry creek.  

Yeah... that did kinda suck. but it was still damn fun. im a noob to the biking thing so i had a blast... but im on more of a trail bike i guess a kona coiler.. and parked at that parking lot.. it just really sucked going up that road. next time i'll have a buddy come down and we can shuttle up to the top of it. or i'll just check out the other place!

The draper downhill is fun and fully shuttle-able. Other than that if you think shuttling bobsled is hard you are going to be missing out on a lot of good rides. I have a 42 pound bike and I don't like going uphill, but you gotta go up to go down! Check out the crest trail as well, once you get past the first uphill (puke hill) it is a really fun single track. However it won't be ready to go until late July by the looks of things.

Ah I haven't been down to bobsled in a while... I guess I need to soon. I Street DJ park is pretty close to there, too, and it would be great on a Coiler. I rock a Stab Deluxe most of the time, but I use my Coiler at I Street and other jump parks, as well as xc rides.

Draper is really sick, too--great trail planning, really flowy, easily shuttled, great jump size and placement.

Check out some of the PC ones as well, there are a bunch of new ones--Road to Arcylon (accessible by Gorgoza Tubing Hill), Trailside Park (with a bunch of new trails and a skills park), and the PC dirt jumps are being rebuilt.

PCMR and Deer Valley have some really fun trails (you have to search more at PCMR, but it's great because not many people use them). DV has a wider variety of trails (with beginner trails, freeride trails, and more difficult DH with bigger obstacles/hazards), whereas PCMR trails are more speedy, but are hard to find and there really aren't that many.

I dont mind going up that much... its just riding up that long ass road to just get to the trial sucked... i've heard a lot about the crest trail for sure gunna check that one out as soon as the snow is gone.. but the draper downhill is that in corner canyon?

damn now i feel really lucky living right at the entrance to bobsled. and also, just hitchhike a ride up with one of the other riders

so you get off the highway on the same exit as the prison (southbound), then go under the highway towards the mountains. You'll end up in a neighborhood after like a 5 minute drive uphill, then the trailhead is in like a little park with some benches overlooking the valley... It's hard to explain when I don't know any street names or even the name of the neighborhood.

the trail is called maple hollow. there should be some good directions on the WAFTA site. but after looking at google maps, it looks like you take exit 288, then head up highland drive. right turn on traverse ridge road, left on suncrest drive, and im pretty sure its somehwere in the area of E Brookings Drive or Brookside Drive...

If you don't want to do the top part of b-sled, you can go up tomahawk drive. Park at the lower lot, go towards the bottom of b-sled (where you pop out onto the road) then take your next left to go uphill. That puts you at another trailhead, and it drops you right before the car jumps. Its nice to do that if you have a little time to ride, etc.

Wow can't believe no one mentioned this... If you want to ride up an xc trail and down bobsled check out dry creek. It's part of the shoreline trail, the closest trail head to bobsled is behind the jewish community center. A good way to loop it if you're driving is to park at popperton park. Ride up Popperton parkway towards the colony of baller houses. When the road turns to go toward the houses stay on the bike path that breaks away and heads toward the jcc/hospital. That'll dump you into a little canyon with a trail going up it, that's dry creek. Ride that up and you'll get to bobsled, impossible to miss there's no other bike trails just some little hiking trails.

It's a pretty fun ride, couple climbs that seem rough but they're over before ya know it. It's also a reasonable climb to do on a big bike if you hike a couple of those climbs.

Oh and you should be able to figure out how to get back to your car, super easy.

Bumping this, anyone know a good way to get to Bobsled from U of U? any of those trails behind HC/the dorms meet up with it?

Pretty sure if you bike over to the med center there's a trail that meets up with the BST, check google maps it should be obvious (I think)
