seriously go to camp of champions website and look at the FAQs there right there
We've compiled this list to make your job of packing for camp a lot easier. There is no need to over pack as there are laundry facilities at The Camp of Champions.
It’s always better to ride the equipment you’re used to. If you don’t have your own, we have tons of demo boards and bindings to try for FREE from all kinds of companies. If you want to buy when you’re out here Showcase Snowboards has hook ups for campers all summer.
It’s always better to use the equipment you know. We can help you rent a pair in town if you don’t have skis. If you want to buy when you’re out here, 4FRNT Skis has special prices for campers on skis, bindings and poles. We have demos from 4FRNT but you have to ski down to the park to get them, so you need your own skis.
We have limited numbers and sizes of snowboard boots for demo but no ski boots, so make sure you bring your own. Pack your boots in your carry on luggage so if the airline loses the rest of your stuff you can still have a ripping camp.
We get all kinds of weather in the summer, so prepare for anything from freezing cold to stinking hot. The waterproof pants don’t need to be thick. Most people just bring their normal snowboard/ski clothing. Two pairs of gloves are better than one since they’re going to be soaked at the end of every day.
Long sleeved shirts are great for hot days. We salt the pipe & jumps continuously day to keep them in shape, so the snow turns into tiny ice crystals very quickly. When you fall, it acts like a cheese grater on any exposed skin. It really hurts, but you get a great scab to brag about when you get home. Bring clothing layers to keep you warm on chilly days / evenings. Bring something for the lake, pool or hot tub. DON'T OVER PACK, The Dorm has laundry, and if you arrive with stuffed bags, how will you cart home all your free stuff you win at camp?
If you don’t have good eye protection, we don’t let you up on the glacier. You can burn your eyes very easily up there. Please don’t bring cheap gas station specials, as these are worse than not wearing any protection at all.
If you don’t have a helmet you're dumb. We don't make campers or coaches wear helmets but we highly recommend using a helmet at all times while you ride. An overlooked piece of protection is a mouthguard. They are awesome at preventing concussions. Teeth clacking together on a hard landing cause the most concussions.
The miniramp in The Compound is a 40 foot wide piece of perfection and the skatepark in Whistler is really fun too. We added the 365 Sports Big Air Bag, dirt jumps, mulch pit, and North Shore Stunts Skill area to The Compound that will be so fun it's crazy. Bring your deck, pads and a helmet as well.
Call your parents IMMEDIATELY when you’ve arrived, so they know you’re OK. They’re worried about you. If you call them as soon as you arrive, they'll think your responsible and you'll be off the hook to have fun the rest of your session. We then won't have to hound you to call home when you parents phone the office worried about you because they haven't heard from you. If you bring a cell phone, Make sure you get Canada added onto your calling plan. Cell phone companies love nothing more than ripping you off for phone calls from a "foreign" country.
- The Best is an ATM Card. That way if you lose your wallet you actually haven't lost any money. Dinner can be $20 Canadian dollars a night depending on what you like. We will be making sure you eat well at a restaurant so you can’t just go to McDonald's every night. We recommend $20 Canadian a day for junk. It’s amazing how many times a night you eat and drink after riding all day. Our convenience store in The Dorm, 6-10, has expanded it's menu with more healthy food as well as drinks, candy, snacks and slurpees.
The BEST place for valuables is at home. Gold chains, expensive watches, jewelery type stuff could be lost at camp. We don't have a theft problem but people put stuff down all the time at camp and then forget about the item. It's your responsibility to keep track of your stuff.
