147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Well fuck that, woke up at 4 for nothing.
got screwed over by the refs again, call a stupid penalty on Kesler which leads to a goal then an imaginary hand pass which results in the empty net

but Vancouver still has to play better, fucking pathetic start to the game.

Seriously though, after watching that game does anyone actually think the Kings are an 8th place team? They straight up look like they're better at hockey than Vancouver is. There were no holes in their game. The Canucks need to step it up big time. 3 more games like that and it's the golf course.

Canucks best player in Game 1: Roberto Luongo. And they still lost. That is not a good sign.

Other than their glaring inability to sustain pressure on the powerplay and the fact that they allowed the game to be tied going into the 3rd. They should have had 4 in the net by then with all that man advantage time...

That loss is exactly what van needed. Now they'll open their eyes and realize they could easily lose this series, and fight hard. At the very least it'll be some damn good hockey to watch.

I'd blame it more on letangs weak clearing of the goalmouth.

Yeah briere was offside, but there was a shit ton of non calls that first period. It was like a complete opposite of the reffing in the nucks game.

Flyers played from behind all season, not surprised in the least they brought that back. Thank god bryz put on his big boy pants for the 2nd and 3rd.

Any bets we'll take fridays game too?? I mean we pretty much run the pens in pittsburgh eh?? What do ya guys got there, one win in two years against us??

The bitz hit was gnarly..that series will be heating up for sure

all I wanted to do this morning was see some vanc/LA highlights on sportscenter but of course I have to watch 45 mins of boring as fuck baseball replays of 0-0 games in the eight inning just to watch a 2 min recap of the entire stanley cup playoffs so far...so god damn frustrating every year with sportscenter and the NHL

ughh bro from my take on the recaps and highlights ive seen he played pretty damn good

2 ppg and one empty netter

he'd probably like to take back one of those ppg goals but I blieve one was scored during a 5v3 and the other was during the 5 min major

I guess I wan't really saying he played bad last night. I actually agree that he looked pretty good. Just came across them and thought they were funny, and wanted to see if any Vancouver fans would get butthurt over them.

Yeah because those are really fresh and original and no one has ever seen anything similar to them before or heard jokes about Luongo in the playoffs.

Aside from Mike Richards, Luongo was the best player on the ice last night for either team.

Hopefully!!
Vancouver pretty much coasted into the playoffs and hasn't had to play competitive in a long time. While LA has been in playoff mode for a while now.
Hopefully this wakes them up and shows them they can't coast through the playoffs.
If the Canucks actually show up this series will be so good. And considering how bad we played last night we were still 3 mins away from overtime and one Hansen post from a possible win.

Probably for Bitz, given he's a 4th line guy and it's a good opportunity for Shanny to remind everyone that he's still there even though it's the playoffs. Probably not for Weber, though I think he SHOULD get a game for that. Even though holy crap was that gnarly. WEBER SMASH.

STL: Andy McDonald, David Backes, TJ Oshie, Alex Pietrangelo, Jaroslav Halak

NYR: Brad Richards, Brandon Dubinsky, Carl Hagelin, Michael Del Zotto, Artem Anisimov

Straight points pool, goalies get 1 for a win and 2 for a shutout. The picks aligned such that if the Blues win the cup and the Rangers do better than the Bruins, I should win, and if the Rangers win the cup and the Blues do better than the Predators, I should win.

In the regular season he'd be looking at multiple games for certain. Playoffs, MAYBE a game, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets nothing more than a slap on the wrist of a fine of a few thousand dollars.

i dunno, i see it from a different angle. seems like throughout most of the season, the league has been trying to be more strict so players will be more disciplined and cause less injuries and whatever, basically just trying to make a point. now, what would be the best way to make a point; dishing out serious suspensions during the playoffs. i dunno, it could go either way. i for one am against that approach but hey, it might happen

They did hand out suspensions last playoffs, so I don't see why they wouldn't do it again.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Bitz get a game or two and Weber... well there always seems to be a bit of a different agenda for star players, either he gets 1 game or a fine; i would be very surprised to see anything more

Lol i seem like a retard, just checked NHL.com and Weber DID only get a fine $2500, which is the most possible but really too small for these guys, hardly dents their pocket books and since it goes to Players' Emergency Assistance Fund i would not be opposed to see a max of $10,000

Bitz has a disciplinary hearing, which i would assume means theres a suspension on the way

I agree with JD's view on teh suspensions..I think bitz will get a suspension because he wont have a major impact on the team so the league can still say they are policing these type of hits without having a huge impact on a team

For weber though shanny will probably come up with somethin like 'he was just trying to show zetterberg how great the nashville fans are' and just slap him with a regular fine but nothign more

when a player like Weber is making 7.5 million a fine of $2500 is like a fine of 10-12 bucks. Seriously that is not enough at all. I'd be completely for having them fined $50,000 and have a good chunk of the fines go to charity or something. then it's actually an amount that will make them think twice about it and if they do do it then a large amount is going to a good cause anyways.

The criterion is obviously based on the fact that Zetterberg was not seriously injured on the play. This occurred as time expired meaning that the only consequence to his action is a $2,500 fine, which for someone making $7.5 Million a season is incredibly inconsequential.

I have zero vested interest in either team. I just find it incredibly pathetic that the league continues to just brush off that type of behavior when it comes to the playoffs.

^^ Couldn't agree more guys. The fine is too small, and the fact that injuries play such a large part of their decision process is beyond me.

If a hit/play is illegal, its illegal, no matter the outcome to the opposing player. And if a hit is clean, its clean, shouldn't matter if the guy gets injured. People get hurt, this is a contact sport.

They should address the plays without knowing the status of the injured player, then only after making their decision should they learn the status of the injured player, if there is an injury. If they are severely injured maybe add a little to the suspension if they will miss significant time. But injuries should not be a key factor in deciding the ruling on these plays.
Otherwise it ends up being they are punishing the result of the hit, rather than the hit itself

We turned off you turned it on.

Brieres offsides had nothing to do with the Pens giving up after the first period.

?? ?? ?? it was one game, in the playoffs ?? ?? ??

I am glad the Pens got beat like that, if anything it will help them in the next game. Still if the series is lost there is no way people arent going to look back at game ones give away up 3 loss. All they needed to do was score on of their 3 pp chances.

I think this strengthens the resolve of the flyers much more than lighting a fire under the pens ass

If the pens could have kept the distance with a 3 or even 2 goal win that would have completely deflated the flyers, and made them question the usual nut case bryz especially on the heals of getting swept last year

But the flyers were fearless coming into that game last night, i dont think theres a team in the league they wouldnt mind playing against especially after coming back from a 3 goal deficit against the pens...and laviolette looks like a hero for keeping bryz in which just puts his confidence through the roof

i just caught Webbers hit, hell if you want to call it a hit, on zeterberg and all i can say is WOW. only a 2,500 dollar fine also, he should have been suspended for at least one game. His intent was to hurt zeterberg and that shit was after the play also, I am all for physical play and i was always known as a hitter when I played but that shit is jsut uncalled for and why hockey gets a bad rap.

bruins caps should be good tonight also.
