Bieksa Hamhuis
Rome Edler
Ballard Tanev
Sauve
Not making a qualifying offer to Lee Sweatt is looking like kind of a poor choice. I for one would like to see Jovo Cop back if he can be had reasonably.
Actually, looking again, we really only need one guy. Rome should be our #7, he works great in that spot. Tanev deserves his shot at this point, and Ballard plays best with him. So, who is the one guy? Here are the people I'd like to see pursued:
-Ed Jovanovski
-Scott Hannan
-James Wizniewski (though if he's going to sign for a reasonable dollar figure you'd think he'd stay in Montreal)
-Steve Montador
-Possibly Tom Pressing or Joni Pitkanen, but I'm not as sold.
I would rather not see a trade happen, but maybe someone's rights could be obtained. If we don't fill that hole, though, what does the extra cap room go towards? Bieksa's raise was only 800k or so, and we lose almost 7 million in salary between Ehrhoff and Salo's contracts.
interesting stuff regarding the Coyotes. still no owner.
come on paul allen.. the Portland Coyotes. have a nice ring to it.
I just have a feeling he'll run out the clock until Friday and sign in Detroit, much to my chagrin.
From PITB, the best description of the UFA market ever:
Unrestricted free agency is the hockey equivalent of that classic cartoon trope where a sexy cartoon lady in a sparkly red dress with a slit sticks her leg out, and the horny cartoon man (usually a wolf in a zoot suit) goes nuts and hits himself on the head with a hammer and his eyes bug out. It doesn’t particularly matter if the cartoon lady is, to use a colloquialism, hot in the face (and the joke is usually that she isn’t). She has sexy legs and she’s there right now, so the guy falls over himself.
Talks between Boston and Kaberle, NYI and Ehrhoff have both fallen off. I feel like Wizniewski's going to end up in not-Columbus but you never know.
Lapierre has re-signed for 1 mil per for 2 years with the 'Nucks which is awesome because top to bottom we kick ass at centre. So here's my roster possibility du jour as a result of that. This is what we call filthy forward depth. Note that Raymond will start the year on the LTIR and Hodgson will hopefully play on that line.

That's what people said last year. Who are you trading him for? We'd take a very good prospect or a second line winger, that's about it. I think he stays and plays even more games than last year.
That's a joke, right? Not a chance in hell. Someone in the vein of Erik Gudbranson or Travis Hamonic is a possibility, that's as close as you're getting to elite prospect level. A guy like Jamie Benn is more likely.
