147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Oh herro LA.

What a comeback by San Jose. Canucks vs Kings. Watching that game I was thinking to myself "well now I just don't care who we face this is terrible either way". The fact that the Sharks made that comeback happen in itself tells you why the Blues are in trouble. That said, if they're missing Clowe and White, it's not good for them. Meanwhile, will the Kings get Carter back in time for game 1? Looks unlike that the Canucks will have Daniel.

Series will come down to 3 players for each team. Doughty, Quick and Richards for LA - does Richards play like he did in Philly's cup run and can Quick play in the playoffs like he did in the regular season? Luongo, Kesler and Henrik for Vancouver - does Luongo implode, and will Kesler activate beast mode?

I dunno. It's kind of a piss off that I think the Blackhawks as the 6th seed might have a better shot at getting out of round 1 than the President's trophy winners. Actually of all the teams in the West playoffs the Hawks are probably your best bet to win a round.

Here's an odd stat - a list every team that has won president's trophies in consecutive seasons since it was introduced.

In 1986 the Oilers won the President's, but lost in the playoffs. In 1987, they won it for a second straight time and won the Stanley Cup.

In 1988, the Flames won the President's but lost in the playoffs. In 1989, they won it again and won the Stanley Cup.

In 1998, the Stars won it, but failed to win in the playoffs. In 1999, they won it again and won the Stanley Cup.

In 2011, the Canucks won the President's but lost the cup final. In 2012?

Apparently the first-time president's winner never wins the cup, but the second time in a row has a damn good record. There is one blip on this record - the Red Wings, who won in both 1995 and 1996. Remember, 1996 was the year of the destiny-goal from Yzerman over the Blues. But destiny was foiled as they lost to the Avs in the conference finals in a series that led to me basically wanting to punch Claude Lemieux in the face while simultaneously kicking him in the balls.

Yeah you and me are on par I think. I am not terribly confident in the Rangers but I still think I'm with them til the East finals if the chips fall right.

Although, looking at the season series numbers...

St. Louis 4-0'd San Jose
Phoenix 3-1 over Chicago
Washington 3-1 over Boston?!
Ottawa 3-1 over New York!

Damn! Should be an interesting first round... pity we lose two of DET/NSH/PHI/PIT no matter what.

I deem the season series-es to be meaningless. It's the playoffs. Everyone starts at zero. If any of those teams on the left think the guys they're going up against will resemble the way they played before, rude awakenings will occur.

It's actually amazing how many band wagoner Sens fans there are in Ottawa. Because Ottawa is a recent team and we're between Montreal and Toronto then there actually aren't as many Ottawa fans as you'd think in the city but whenever Ottawa does well all them Montreal and Leafs fans just jump right on board. I love it personally. But it's the reason why Ottawa is said to have bad fans; because most of the city actually cheers for les habitants or the leafs.

You're right man, Ottawa is great place to live, I love it here. The Scotiabank place isn't even in Ottawa though, it's in the middle of nowhere. To get to the arena you have to drive past numerous fields of smelly cows grazing in the pastures, once you can't take the smell anymore, you spot this ugly building beside a car dealership and next thing you know you're watching a hockey game. The atmosphere in the arena isn't all that great either, that's probably why most hockey fans consider Ottawa boring..

The thing is I don't think it would've worked if the arena was in downtown Ottawa. The traffic would have been ridiculous since there's no subway and the roads are slow..

One positive thing in having the arena in the middle of nowhere is that it's pretty much riot proof.

yes its not always a good thing though because its so crowded and theres no parking at rogers arena really, u have to park somewhere else downtown then walk to the game, and if ur a seasons ticket holder and park at the rink, it takes a loonnggg time to get out because of the traffic, escpecially if theres something going on at bc place too

After being out of the NHL loop it was nice to finally see how things panned out.
Happy to see Vancouver get the presidents and while i could care less about the trophy, just happpy we get home-ice advantage throughout

Out of all the teams that Vancouver coulda have faced between Phoenix, LA, and San Jose we got the team i least wanted. LA is dangerous, they have a great defense and goaltending and a sleeping defense with great experience

the only shitting thing is gonna be watching the game, since the games will be on around 4am for me i gotta find a way to watch them live. hopefully my internet will be good enough to stream them live, fingers crossed
