Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Thoughts on Top 10 Dirtiest Hits of 2012?


There's a few missing but have to say the Shelby and Stewart are real bad.

Also not a fan of the Keith/Marchand on the Sedins but boarding to me always looks far worse then elbows/clips.

I would say that 3 of the cheapest of the cheap shots are either:
- Wisniewski
- Bourque
- Keith

Elbows to the head in my opinion are dirtier than a check from behind. Hitting from behind is dirty but often times the play happens so fast and shit happens.

Chris Stewart's is pretty awful but I'm still going with Keith on Sedin simply because it in no way resembled a hit or... anything you do in a hockey game. Same with Bork's, but Keith's was worse.

As far as Kaleta I pretty much figure he did that because his father was a goat.

looking at the Stewart hit, why the fuck would you even defend your team mate. that's one of those 'wow. you're a complete douchenozzle and I hope you get laid out by the other team' moments. and everyone jumps in to defend him. they're all just as bad.

really? while there's no excuse for keith's elbow, i'd say it's far from the dirtiest of those 10. shelly/boyce, stewart/kronwall, and especially porter/booth all looked far dirtier imo. man, some of those had me cringe...especially that knee to knee hit.

You can give Porter the reluctance card on his knee to knee hit. yeah, it was probably worse injury-wise for sure, but I don't feel much intent from it. Keith's elbow was seemingly deliberate and with intent to fuck some shit up. it was away from the play, and could have been retaliatory. That's why I'd agree with JD here.

i completely disagree. porter had plenty of time to avoid that hit and he deliberately stuck that leg out knowing damn well what was about to happen. that's a pretty commonly known no no in hockey as it can be a career ender... i see nothing but intent to injure on a hit like this.

keith's elbow - retaliation? probably. but this shit happens all of the time in hockey. an elbow is WAY more acceptable than a deliberate knee to knee imo.

Washington clinches a birth in the east along with florida (for the first time in 12 years!) Lots of news today. Sharks clinch with 1 point.

obviously it's your job to defend your team mates. but there are some lines. you shouldn't be defending someone's actions that could have easily made another player paralyzed for life.

it's like if you're a cop and a colleague is killing hookers for fun. you don't defend that cop just because he's another cop. you let him get strung out like he deserves.


I totally understand defending your team mates. If it was an acceptable hit and they're trying to get him for it by all means protect him. but the dude could have broken the guys neck. on purpose. you just don't defend someone for that.
