147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

it depends on the players contract.... some have injury clauses written into them stating that IF they are severely injured during the course of game play they will still be paid the remaining sum of the contract.

now in the case of marc savard, he is still signed to the bruins but has been side lined by the GM (Peter Chiarelli) it is my understanding that he is still collecting 4 million for this season, despite not playing at all.

Pretty sure your contract is guaranteed regardless of injury, but as always there is going to be a buyout clause - they could buy you out just as they could if you were playing. I think that's standard form. But it depends on the contract, they could write pretty much whatever they wanted within CBA guidelines.

In other news, tonight marks the NHL's most important game of the regular season. It is between the Dallas Stars and the San Jose Sharks. Who saw that coming at the beginning of the year?

The Kings are almost certainly in. It remains to be seen if they can hold onto the 3 spot, but it looks likely. Consequently, the home at home against the Sharks might still decide some things but tonight is the big one.

If Dallas loses, they're more or less done - their chances of making the postseason fall to 11%. If they win, those chances jump to 76%. For the Sharks, who currently have about a 66% chance of making it, if they win, they're more or less a lock - 90+% chance of getting in. If they lose, though? Their chances drop to 33%. It's a one game series, basically win and you're in. Should show who wants it more.

Huuuuge day in the NHL particularly for Western conference/Pacific division teams.

Seeing how as a Canucks fan I wouldn't mind not playing SJ let's go Phoenix and Dallas.....

Honestly though if they can split their first two at home (IF THEY GET IT) I'd assume they'd come out ahead in the six or seven game series that would ensue.

Lets just say I'm nervous as shit right now. Good thing San Jose is 4-0-1 in the series this season and is coming off a 3-0 shutout. Hopefully that solid play continues.

...an OT/Shootout would be fucking stupidly annoying at this point though - no matter which way the victor goes.

Which I wouldn't mind for a second, at this point. Might as well get the fun started right away this time! haha.

I'd rather have Vancouver than St. Louis, anyways. Those guys are even more hellbent on destruction against San Jose this year. Probably still pretty pissed off about Joe Thornton taking out Perron last year.

I can't wait for new Stanley Cup finalists. Every pro-Vancouver and pro-Boston arguments have been beaten to death.. When will we turn the page?

Talking about concussions, Carey Price has now been added to he list of concussed players.
Hope it's nothing serious and on the plus side it helps us solidify a top 3 pick.

Makes sense to me. It's two fanbases that need to be punched in the mouth for being generally obnoxious in comparison to their peers. Both wanted it so bad, and one's shoving it in the face of the other.

...at the same time, seems to me that Chicago and Philadelphia were so much more classy in the way they handled the event - and neither of them had won a cup in a long time either.

It would actually be pretty sick if there was another Boston/Vancouver finals again like Detroit and Pittsburgh not too long ago.

Yeah I hope it's nothing serious. Budaj has actually been playing not bad though. Hopefully he bombs these next few games.

Neal didnt want to dance with chara or looch..but he figured ference was more of a fair fight for him, I think he got more than he bargained for though

Cheap high sticking call on peverly which was clearly embellished but penguins doin what theyre good at...capitalizing with two goals on a long 5v3

Just got back from the pub - watching Dallas - SJ. Tense game for most of it. Congrats to Sean, as his boys will be making the playoffs. Dallas is pretty much dead. The Sharks now play a home at home against LA - if San Jose wins both games in regulation, they still have a chance at winning the Pacific. However, that's unlikely - depending on those two games it will probably either be Phoenix or LA. Phoenix is leading Columbus 1-0 right now and if they win that game they will be tied with LA with 93 points and 34 ROW's.

Also, epic game from Buffalo to keep their hopes alive, but need to win both of their remaning games and hope Washington loses one.

I know there's no easy, guaranteed wins in the playoffs but as a Canucks fan I have to say I'm disappointed we won't play Dallas.

San Jose/LA are both quality teams that have the potential to send Canucks to 6/7 games and conceivable a loss. Of the two here's to a SJ vs VAN showdown so our torment of Dingosean may continue.

Congrats on all but making the playoffs though SJ
