147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Lol. Our high round draft picks have been pretty crappy picks the last few years, so I wouldn't be too worried. For him I think it's a 1, a 3, and a 4 to give up... meh. And I'm not too impressed by next year's potential draft crop anyways.

We score huge when we have a top 10 pick, other than that, fuck em... they can have em.. We didnt have top draft picks in 2008 and 2009 and it's seeming to serve us alright, anyways :P

I'd take doughty for 5.5 a season... easy... but knowing Doug Wilson, he'd NEVER do such a thing... it was slightly surprising he offer sheeted Hjalmmerson last year.

Either way, a top pairing guy like Doughty would be the last and final puzzle piece to a team that's absolutely due for a cup if they had a #2 guy with Boyle...

To be honest, signing Markov was a good idea. His passing and vision of the game is unmatched among the montreal canadien's defence. I keep hearing people suggesting PG to offer a contract to Wisniewski instead of Markov because he's not injury prone. That is incorrect, Wiz has suffered the exact same injury as Markov 3 times! So he's more fragile then Markov.
Rumours state that Gauthier offered a contract to Hamrlik. Roman was definitely overused last year as the habs' injury list kept expanding, so I believe that if he plays less minutes he will be a great addition to the lineup. Not that he wasn't last year...
There's one big problem if we sign Hamrilk. If Pierre Gauthier signs him, we have a very old and slow defence with Gill, Spacek, hamrlik and Markov isn't exactly young and explosive.
One of the players listed needs to go, and that player is Spacek. That guy needs to go! We need room for younger players that will speed up the defence. Spacek brings nothing to the table. I would be happy if we traded this guy to Florida for a 4th rounder as they have loads of cap space...

also glad to see some good ol Ontario boys in the top picks. Canadian and Swedish picks are going to dominate though.

I'd love the sharks to take him off their hands... Doug Wilson's tried a bunch of times before... last year, offered Setoguchi (From Taber, south of Calgary) Braun, and a draft pick and they still didnt trade him here... kinda obnoxious.

Talked about the trade with my pops (the true Flyer's fan) today, we'll see what they do with Versteeg (boot him for a 3rd/2nd round pick). Could pan out well, could pan out terribly. They basically sent Carter to fucking Siberia.. Either way it goes Homer's got some serious balls.

I dont see Bieksa commanding less than about 4.5-5 million, really... He had a good contract year, and if a deal cant get done, and he goes UFA, he gets overpaid like crazy with the amount of teams looking for such services... that said... he might take the home discount - Would be smart of him to do so, but Who knows really.

I feel that everyones going to be targetting Joel Ward for some reason... but 2.5 isn't out of the question...

But you're right... that's definitely a possible situation... especially if Vancouver doesn't return Salo...

The common wisdom is that 4.5 mil is now the high-number on the Canucks for defensemen. Bieksa can't really justify getting paid more than Hamhuis, and has indeed indicated a willingness to "stay for less", so 4 is foreseeable, 4.25 is likely. It is more likely that Ehrhoff gets paid ~5 mil by someone looking for a d-man who can score 50 points.

Salo will likely not be back - I think he's too slow - and if he is, it won't be for more than 1.5 mil, so we save 2 mil in cap right there.

I don't know if people will be targeting Ward, but I think 2-2.5 is about the best he's likely to get. That'd put him in the range, for us, of Malhotra, Samuelsson and Raymond; hard to say he's better than any of those guys.

It's really really dumb that they won't be able to give their first rounder (and everyone else) temp Jets jerseys to wear. If there was ONE PLACE you wanted to hock your new merchandise and sell a few jerseys, it's the draft. People are watching. Why would you not want that exposure? They should have had someone working on this already and come up with a sweater, can always tweak it before the season starts or say "oh no that's just our 3rd jersey" if you have buyer's remorse.

That was the REPORTED deal that I heard a few times that went through last year... I could be wrong, there might have also been something else coming from Calgary to SJ that I'm forgetting, since I was mostly faced on him.

And... Setoguchi is NO Logan Couture...

Setoguchi is streaky as fuck and not the best on the defensive end... His numbers are semi inflated, as anyones would be if theyre playing next to Thornton... he's a good skater and a good scorer, but Couture is a 2 way center who might not have reached his ceiling yet. It's almost safe to say that Setoguchi has...

He showed up in the playoffs, and played well this year. That earned him 3m per year... That's a pill I can swallow for a decent top 6 scorer.

definitely nice to see Lando go #2, unbelieveable player, can't agree more with his comparison to Mike Richards. Watched him, along with every player in the O and Q a whole lot this season.

If you have any questions about a lot of these guys I can likely give you some insight as working in both leagues I've got some good knowledge of their games.
