147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Just back from the Canucks - Avalanche game.

Money! Great to see Bieksa with the late goal, and then have Raymond win it in the SO.

Luongo had a great game, not sure I can say that about anyone else on the Canucks.....Kesler was alright, Bitz was good and yeah...that's about it.

Yeah the Canucks won yesterday, they've somehow elevated winning despite being completely outplayed and generally looking like complete shit (aside from Luongo) into an art form.

I think Seattle would be a great place for a hockey team due to its large population and its proximity to Vancouver, this would create a very nice rivalry. From a business standpoint, Seattle has many successful corporations such as Microsoft, Starbucks etc..

Quebec city on the other hand has a much smaller population but already has fans waiting with their arms wide open. I went to Quebec city on new year's eve and I got the chance to walk around the city and I couldn't help but notice the dedication they have to their non-existant NHL team. They aren't only dedicated to the nordiques, they love the game. Heck, there was a super legit outdoor hockey rink right beside the provincial parliament.

Sparknotes:

Seattle's strong points:
- Big beautiful city
- Potential to become a city with a growing fan base
- Lots of corporations
- Close to Vancouver

weak point:
- Lots of potential, but there's no guarantee

Quebec city's strong points:
- Also a nice city to visit
- There's already a fan base
- The city loves hockey

weak points:
- No big corporations
- Much smaller city
- In the middle of nowhere
- The fan base doesn't have as big of a growth potential

If Phoenix moves in the hear future, it could really go either way. I hope both cities get a team, one of them needs to be an expansion team. My guess is that Quebec city will get the coyotes as they aren't the strongest team and I'm sure QC city will support them no matter what. I'm not sure that Seattle would be as supportive to a crappy team, as they haven't had a hockey team in ages. I think they would be better off by getting a team composed of fresh players for a fresh start.

Hockey would do fine in Seattle, sure...

but good luck getting public funds from a town where they just put up a new baseball field, a new football stadium, and not too long ago, had renovated the Arena they already had... for a new arena...

At this point, I feel Portland has more potential for most of the same reasons... most importatly, that it has an arena already, and a bazillionaire owner that has shown interest in the NHL in the past - Hence why the arena there is NHL ready.

I grew up in Seattle it would be awesome to see a team there. It's funny for how close it is to Canada that no one I mean literally no one plays hockey. I had 3 friends over 20 years living there that played hockey and only one was actually serious about it and played passed the age of 13... Kinda sucks I wish I grew up playing.

Yeah, that's kinda how it seems in the entire northwest, man.. I don't get it. Hockey is way bigger in California than up here in the northwest...

That's strange, but I know for a fact that there is a lot of Canadians that moved to California, especially in San Jose.

I have the feeling hockey would become pretty popular if the northwest got a team.

Yeah, the bay area has become quite the hockey hotbed - possibly due to the fact that, San Jose being the largest city in the Bay Area, has only one real pro-sports team, and people go apeshit for the Sharks there.

that and the fact that theyre the only team in the region that's been worth watching for the last decade or so...

So kids can get into hockey at a young age. Then a few years from now there would be a bunch of fans. There never should've been a team in Phoenix in the first place. And if they did put arenas there they would have to have a glass shield like Sandy's home in Spongebob.

Yeah Leafs! Damn those boys are quick. I feel like Ii'm watching a game of NHL 12 when they play. An effective cycle maybe, but mostly they just have a speedy transition which produces great chances. Their games have become so fun to watch.

Are we going down the line of favourite Sharks?

Irbe was fuckin sick, and I rooted him on hard when he was in Carolina... and Pat Falloon turned into Pat Balloon... Ozzy was always a favourite... and I'd sign him to the sharks every time I played seasons in NHL games... I've wanted the Sharks to sign Ray Whitney back since they day he left... Mr. Freeze was great to watch, and... Nothing else to say about Igor.

Johan Garpenlov? My dad talks about him almost neverendingly... "THE FUCK DID WE TRADE HIM FOR A BAG OF PUCKS? WE COULD HAVE BEEN THE PANTHERS IF WE HAD KEPT HIM!!''

What could have happened...


That puck goes in instead of out, and we have Vancouver vs. San Jose in the Western finals in 1994 - instead we had to wait till last season for that to happen...


How about some other names while we're at it though? Evgeni Nabokov, Link Gaetz (the guy's name was LINK..), Teemu Selanne, Tony Granato, Brian Marchment (he was our Scott Stevens), Kyle Mclaren (before Douglas Murray, he was the crankshaft), DOUG WILSON, Alexander Korolyuk (Korky invented 'fast'), Gary Suter, Jeremy Roanick, Jeff Norton (Our Boyle before Boyle), Mike Ricci (toothy, ruled..), Jonathan Cheechoo (other than Nolan, probably the player most fans keep asking Doug Wilson to bring back) , Vincent Damphousse...


...but for me, growing up in the bay area and playing hockey, and idolizing players on my home team, No player excited me like Owen Nolan. His name and number should be forever displayed in the Tank's rafters - because no sharks fan was more disappointed in a player leaving, than when Owen Nolan left town to go to Toronto. At the time, I felt like we were totally boned, and might never win again. So distraught.
