147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

Since when has it ALWAYS been a no-no? Post-lockout yes... pre-lockout? not so much, and definitely not like it is today.

that said, I know its absolutely major penalty worthy today, and rightly so... however, it's not suspension worthy unless it's really malicious... I didn't see the hit in question, but simply leaving your feet would grant a Major and a 10 minute misconduct if I'm not mistaken.

based on how much shit is considered suspendable these days leaving your feet definitely should be too. 2 recent suspensions come to mind, cant remember the names of either but one was a 3 game and one was an 8 game. granted both were "head targeted" hits and the 8 game was a repeat offender (someone on edmonton), but still both involved feet leaving the ice prior to making contact.

First I'm pretty sure leaving your feet has always been a charging penalty as long as I've been alive, so it's always been a no no.

Second, the hit was essentially Kesler coming up the boards, Kronwall skating backwards jumped early. He always jumps through hits but usually he makes contact first, this time he was skating backwards and mistimed it. Kesler ended up bleeding, got pissed and took a couple of swings and somehow it all ended up with a Red Wing power play. What?

No suspension but it definitely should've been a call, which was immediately made up for when Hansen immediately skated around the Wings' defence on the PK, ran right over Howard and Edler tucked in the rebound for a shorty and they called it a good goal. THIS RULING EVOKES SKEPTICISM. Howard was pissed.

Also, just FYI, the Wild have lost 5 in a row while Vancouver is 12-2-1 in its last 15, 1 point out of 1st in the NW with a game in hand. The fairy tale is almost over, Minnesotans. Enjoy your final days while they last.

That 12-2-1 is odd particularly because it really should be 15-0-0 if not for some weirdness... the 2 reg losses were, one to Nashville in which they led 5-3 in the 2nd and lost 6-5 (how you gonna give up 6 goals to freakin' Nashville), one to the abysmal Carolina Hurricanes despite leading by 2 goals in that game, and the OTL was a shootout loss to Columbus of all teams. Should have had all 3.

Yes, always has been charging penalty, but it would typically be a 2 minute penalty before rather than the nearly automatic 5 minute penalty of today. That's what I was saying.. and we certainly wouldn't be talking about suspensions.

Yeah but nothing used to be a suspension basically. You had to whack a guy in the head with your stick.

Other news, Sharks are about to move from out of the playoffs to 3rd place for the second time in under a week. Which isn't such a bad deal since the Stars have no business being in the home ice advantage picture with a -7 goal differential while the Wings and Canucks have a combined +66 in 4th and 5th. That's stupid.

Well, no, that's what happens when your division sucks. It used to happen a lot in the SE. I seem to recall one year Carolina being out of the playoffs with 2 games to go and ending up in 3rd.

which is crazy, because last year, the Stars were 1 point away from putting the entire Pacific division in the playoffs...

Outside of Anaheim though, I wouldn't say the Pacific really sucks... Dallas is overachieving early like usual, but they are still quality. Phoenix is just about as scrappy of a team as you'll find and will still probably get a playoff spot this year, and LA is going to figure it out and start actually winning. Too much talent there to be where they are.

Fucking Bryz is falling flat on his face, good thing we paid all that money for a quality goaltender.

At least simmonds lit up brewer with a couple mean ass uppercuts.

Pittsburgh thursday should be a good warmup for the winter classic. Fuck I think we should put Bob in the outdoor game the way bryz is playin.

Nice to see the Canucks domination of San Jose continue.

Not sure why SJ was even allowed back into the game as the Nucks special teams (PP and PK) were excellent, and we looked the part for nearly the whole game.

Joe Thornton continuing to display his class....what a tool, have fun being remembered simply as a talented hockey player who under acheived and couldn't lead a team.

So did Henrik, he appeared to find it hilarious on the bench. Pretty embarassing for Thornton though, acting like a petulant 12 year old in full view of cameras. Can you imagine Stevie Y doing something like that? Neither can I.

I wouldn't say that Van's power play was all that impressive in that game... 1/5 against the sharks, who have had such a struggling power play so far? Not that impressive. They did a good job killing off penalties in the 3rd period though, for sure - mostly thanks to Luongo making some solid saves.

As far as Joe Thornton being a tool? please... anyone who cheers for a team with Ryan Kesler has no business calling anyone else a tool haha. Both of our teams have players who have done some pretty damn audacious shit. Both are pretty guilty.

kesler has done some questionable shit (yes he dives a bit). joe dives too though, makes dirty hits and cheap shots people (see the slash on burrows last time the teams played, then calling him a diver even though burrows needed a few stitches to close the wound up, i could bring up more examples from recent years if you wish) and does stupid immature shit like seen last night with henrik sedin.

kesler used to be a shithead, then he smartened up and started staying out of the box. dont hate on kesler when you've got a guy like jumbo joe leading your team.
