147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

They probably don't want him to get injured right after again. My guess is they're making sure he's good for the playoffs. Hopefully we actually get there though

should be a good series this year, 3 more games, hopefully next time we have a full defensive squad for you guys.

this will be the conference final series.. pens vs bruins.

Los Angeles, Anaheim, Phoenix, San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado

Conference B = Norris
Detroit, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, Chicago, Minnesota, Dallas and Winnipeg

Conference C = Adams
Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Florida and Tampa Bay

Conference D = Patrick
New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York Rangers, New York Islanders , Washington and Carolina

So pumped for the return of a 4 division league...

Now, the only question is... will there be expansion in the east to make up for the fact that theres a 16 team West, and a 14 team East? or will Phoenix finally move?

and im gonna go for the trip post here and say that i dont really mind the new conference system; could be interesting, get to play each team twice, and the teams in your conf 5-6 times. the only thing im kinda bummed about is that i would rather have the rangers or something in our conference instead of the panthers or the lightning, a team that we actually have some history with, but whatever its not really a big deal

Either way, the coolest thing about this is the playoff format...

The top four teams in each conference (division, whatever) will make the postseason. They will be seeded according to final standings, with 1v4, and 2v3. Then, following that, the winners will be re-seeded irrespective of the time zone.

This means some crazy ass shit for the semi-finals and Stanley Cup Finals.... We could have DC facing Vancouver in the Semi-Finals, or a Boston v. New York Stanley Cup Finals. Kinda fucking awesome, and brings us back to the years when Montreal would face Toronto in the finals.

This makes the playoffs a really wacky affair. I can't wait to see San Jose play some of you east coasters in the 3rd round...

Imagine a Vancouver - Chicago finals... San Jose playing Detroit for the cup... the possibilities are AWESOME.

but yo one thing that i just realized, instead of having all the top 4 teams advance, they should do it so that lets say the 5th place team in one of the 8 team conferences has more points than the 4th place team in a 7 team conference, the 5th place team should advance instead of them

That will never be possible... firstly because 2 teams out of 'conference' can't play in the 3rd round (2nd round is the de-facto 'conference championship) and second of all... because there's no possible way Toronto would ever get that far.

I have a feeling this is going to happen once the figure out how to do it...

does the 5th team in the 8 team conference just take over the spot of the 4th team from the other conference?

Think if say... Colorado, has more points than Buffalo does or something... would they then have to play Montreal, Boston, and Tampa Bay in the 1st and 2nd rounds? Tough call.

theres a 50% chance making the playoffs for 8 team conference clubs. its 57% for the 7 team conference clubs.

pending relocation (looking at you PHX) and, now very possible expansion, this could change soon enough...

32 teams is NOT too many (especially if they are placed in Quebec or Southern Ontario)

Will anyone ever give Boston's offense any credit besides Seguin. They've scored the second most goals in the league. Sure the defense is on another level but i still just don't get it.

So... now the only answers left are "what happens when a 5 team in an 8 is better than a 4 in a 7, as well as, "who's going to get expansion rights in their hood", and "what are the conference names going to be"

Aside from regional titles and Patrick/Smythe/Norris/Adams of old... what should they be called?

(funtimes)

Pacific/Northwest – We Travel Alot, and have all the best skiing Conference.
Central – Wings and Friends Conference.
East 1 – Hot and Cold But Always Humid Conference.
East 2 – OMGZ ALL THE GUYZ WE LUV PLAY HERE CONFRANCE!

Or...

1. Top and Bottom East.
2. Middle East.
3. Red Wings and Blackhawks and Who?
4. I’m sorry, I was fast asleep while your games were being played, because they come on at like 1030pm, so fuck that shit.

If the rule was that "If conference with 8 teams has a 5th best team that's record is better than 7 team conference's 4th best team, then 5 of 8 replaces 4 of 7", and both 8 team conferences had teams that had better records... then you end up with 10 teams from what's formerly the Western Conference, and 6 teams from what's formerly the eastern...

season high 45 saves? Thats playing big against a great team...its unbelievable that only a season and a half ago everyone wanted him out of here

the defense is absolutely lights out when playing in front of him as well...one full 5v3 and another 5v3 over a minute long and no goals speaks volumes about how confident and great that defense is playing right now

They won't get the old names back. Bettman trashed those, he's probably not going to bring them back. I'd wouldn't hate seeing the Yzerman / Gretzky / Orr / Bossy or something like that. But it will probably be regional. West, Central, East, Atlantic or something.

ya I cant hate on the bruins for that game... they played well. Still though dude I was at the game and man even on the 5 on 3's your boy Timmy Thom saved your asses a bunch of times!! your D is good for sure but man they get beat and Thomas just comes to the edge of the crease and takes that fucking puck away every time. I dont even get how he is so good he plays such a crazy style but fuck it works for him. i honestly think he is so good because he comes out and challenges players and will go after the puck when they are extremely close to him. usually goalies only come out when its like a 1 on 1 or something he gets to the edge of the crease all the time and just snatches the puck up leaving no room for greasy or rebound goals. dude is a fuckin machine!

I mean that hit really wasnt that dirty or anything at all but it was DIRTY.. I mean the guy was looking down at his feet trying to find the puck do you REALLLLY need to run someone like that and potentially hurt them or even end their career.

This is one of the only clean hits I can say I wish he would get a little talking to about. That kinda shit aint necessary man the mother fucker was just standing there...

Your reasoning sounds like "Well, I'd better not take a slapshot from this close, because a wrist shot would likely do it and I don't want to hurt the goalie here." Fuck no. As long as it's within the rules, you go all out and make the other guy wish he didn't have to play against you. Injuries will happen sometimes, that's part of playing a contact sport.

Also having had time to re-watch and think about it I think the suspension to Tootoo is bullshit. Tootoo is a garbage player, but even the 5 and a game was debatably overkill. Adding 2 more is just political. Cue Flames fans crying for a suspension to David Booth for going to the net and bowling over Kiprusoff on Sunday.

Compared to the hits that have gone on recently, ones that have gone punished and unpunished.  That one wasn't bad at all.  Thats all body on body.

If you watch the whole video, near the end you even see Da Costa admit it was his own fault.

This has nothing to do with taking a slap shot or wrist shot. the guy was looking down at his feet and yes he admitted it was his fault because he was looking down at his feet.

Letang was suspended this year when he check someone into the boards. same type of play they guy got hit hard, Letang could have let up but didnt, after the game the guy admitted it was his fault, Letang still got the boot for 2 games.

I just wonder when people start caring about the health of the people they are playing against. I understand its a contact sport I played contact sports until I was a senior in high school, I dont even like either of the teams involved in this hit, I just think guys need to try not and KILL people so often.

Just my thought you can UHH WHAT me and bash me all you want, im just looking out for the health of hockey players and anymore playing a contact sport. the guy had no idea where the puck was, it was at his feet somewhere. skate up with speed take the puck and start an offensive break out. Pheneuf(sp?) is a good enough player to make that kind of play.

I agree, I dont think he should be punished at all as I said before it was a clean hit. And as I want threw in my last post ^ Im just wondering when people will make a conscious effort to make an offensive play and move the puck up ice rather than disintegrate the guy looking for the puck at his feet not moving at all.

Dont get me wrong either I am all about big hits in hockey or any sport.
