147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Oh, and to start some tradition: LOL @ Anaheim.

I've been quietly freaking out over the injustice suffered by the Habs the other night with that overtime goal, and now Pacioretty gets 3 games. I'm rattled. I liked Kerry Fraser's take on it all: http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/kerry_fraser/?id=381484 and I felt some vindication knowing that he is on my side. I don't think Pacioretty should've gotten 3 for that hit, I think 1 would have sent the appropriate message and seeing as he is a first time offender and apologized after the game I can't understand why Shanahan was so harsh. It's easy to cry foul with Pacio after the un-suspended Chara hit, but regardless I think the NHL got this one wrong.

I think Pacioretty deserved a suspension.
What really pisses me off is how the league is so inconsistent.. There has been quite a few hits that were more vicious that haven't been penalized.

Woltek Wolski's hit on Alfresson, Malone's hit on campoli, Lucic on Miller etc..

3 game suspension is fine, but if you take a look at Deavaux's hit on Fleischmann, which he also got 3 games, he should've got a 6 game suspension. There's a difference between a blatant elbow to the face and a hockey play that ended up dirty.

well chara wasnt suspended cause collin campbell was head of the disciplinary board last year, and his son played on the bruins and at the time of the chara incident they were fighting for a playoff spot. taking away their best D would have had a bit of an impact on their chance. campbell should not have been in a position to make that call but for whatever reason the league was ok with it despite a major conflict of interest. whatever, theres shanaban now and the past is the past, nothing you can do besides bitch about.

Hoping and expecting the Canucks to keep up their winning ways at home against a weak Columbus team.

Really starting to show the form that made us so good last year....if we can get over these recent injuries, have Kesler and Bieksa find some form, and get back to out strong transition game we'll be right back to our best.

Come on you Nucks.

I'm sure that they'll eventually only use video replays to determine good goals, hits etc. and keep the refs on the ice for only trivial things. I actually can't believe the ref still has the final say in a lot of things even if he was clearly wrong after looking at the replays.

I was listening to an interview the other day and they were talking about how they make the schedules and that there is no way to computerize it, all had to be done by hand because of all the variables. Are you fucking kidding me?

Hopefully the next generation of people in charge will take advantage of technology to keep the games a little more fair.

There's no such thing as "the perfect call"; fans will disagree about almost every single call. the term "correct call" doesn't exist because there is no correct call, only the call which the official thinks is correct. to some ppl, he will have made the correct call, to others, it is the wrong call. it will always be this way.

do you agree with the 3 games?

I dont agree with the inconsistency between the deveaux hit and the patchioretty hit...deveauxs hit was clearly intentional and dirty but received the same suspension as patchioretty who didnt really target the head but was going through someone whose head was in an unfortunate area

I think the difference is letang was putting his head in trouble and its unfortunate he got injured where as fleischmann was trying to avoid contact but deveaux still went after the head

I just dont understand how both of these are the exact same 3 game suspension

ya im with you on that, either patches' suspension shouldve been shorter or deveaux's shouldve been longer. the hits are not similar at all

So Mason Raymond is now healthy and will, presumably, rejoin the Canucks lineup sometime in the next few games. The potential result, because of how well Lapierre and Hansen have been playing, is the Canucks may not actually need to put a 4th line on the ice, just a first line, 2 second lines and a 3rd line.

1 - Sedin Sedin Burrows

2a - Raymond Kesler Hodgson

2b - Higgins Lapierre Booth

3 - Weise Malhotra Hansen

another good game out of schnieder. 5 straight for vancouver, kesler, burrows and booth all picking it up, this canucks team is finally starting to look like last season.

one funny thing from the other night against san jose that i forgot to comment on, thornton saying burrows embellished his slash, and burrows had to get 4 stitches in his hand cause of the slash. dont think you can fake that there no show joe, ya fucking idiot.

Toronto is the most valuable team in the league. NYR are second and Montreal third.

together those 3 teams make more money than the rest of the league combined

I don't find Edmonton/Calgary all that unexpected since they're splitting a fairly small market. If one didn't exist the other would probably be top 5. same with Ottawa, they're in between Montreal and Toronto and are fairly young. I'd say a good quarter of this city are Montreal or Toronto fans.

im not expecting much from markov to be honest, i hope he proves me wrong. white's style of play is just what we need at this point, hes gonna have an impact for sure. pumped for our matchup with the sharks tonight, but i hope we come ready to play. wadup dingo.

I don't know about those lines - maybe long term but for now that's too much shuffling to accommodate a player just back from a sub par year that ended with an injury.

1 - Sedin Sedin Burrows
2 - Higgins Kesler Booth (starting to find chemistry and form....getting Booth going)
3 - Raymond Hodgson Hansen (know their roles, decent defensively with vision and speed)
4 - Weiser - Lappierre - Malhotra

Pull Lappierre into the third line as necessary, while slowly incorporating Raymond to Higgins spot....and Higgins to the third line.

It's not ideal to have two centers on the fourth line and only CoHo on the third, Lapierre and Malhotra win draws Cody is young and only around 43%. There's been a lot of line shuffling lately anyway.

To be honest I sometimes think that they should just keep the Sedins together and aside from that, everyone else just go. No set lines, just positions.

Yeah its wild how many players we have that could float between 2/3/4 line duties.

Per twitter:

benkuzma Ben Kuzma Raymond ready to return, skating with Hodgson, Hansen. Malhotra on fourth line against Predators. Volpatti out.

I think Raymond/Hodgson/Hansen could be wild, way more speed and vision than most NHL third lines....let Kesler/Booth/Higgins be our shut down line.

Wild win in a shoot out against edmonton.....10 times this season the wild have been down after the first period and come back to win. The team doesn't give up, and they are fun to watch...33 points and 15 wins.

Koivu's shootout goal was dirty.

I'm sorry J.D. but what do Wellwood and Demitra have in common with Hodgson/Hansen/Raymond?

Hansen and Raymond are both far more reliable defensively than either of the aforementioned players. In fact, I think Raymond's defensive work is far underrated as he disrupts play by back checking incredibly well in the neutral zone.

Hodgson and Demitra may play a similar game, but a third line of Hansen/Hodgson/Raymond simply because a past line featuring two soft, slow players with some offensive skills were played there two.

Your insight is better than that.

Got to give it up to Asham - he's handled himself very well after knocking out Jay Beagle and mocking/gloating.

The latest from him prior to today's rematch:

“Not really thinking about it, and I’m sure they’ve got other things on their mind,” Asham said. “But if they decide to send somebody out to fight me, so be it. What happens, happens. Not going to let it affect my game.”

Asham added: “I wasn’t too happy about what I did. To be honest, I had a couple of sleepless nights. I was very embarrassed for myself and my team. I don’t do that stuff. I know it’s never going to happen again.”

Good on him for owning up, accepting the tilt today, and in many ways doing something that many others wouldn't in the wake of something he was ashamed of.


Nice little touch of sportsmanship in the NHL.

Schneider and Luo let in 3 goals apiece. None of them bad goals, but not the stellar level of goaltending we've grown accustomed to. If you score 5 you should be able to beat the damn Predators.
