No, you were right that a game against the Canucks was what was needed, in that the Canucks are a team that doesn't bother to show up for 2nd periods, which really helps a lot. Also bad officiating is helpful. But the goaltending is not the problem in either of those areas.
Since when are you a Ducks fan? I thought you were from Ottawa.
You also have to take into account the fact that Lindy Ruff probably told them not to do anything about it or go after him. He only put Cody McCormick on the ice with Looch once for the rest of the entire game, that's pretty telling. Even so, someone probably needs to take a healthy run at Tim Thomas next game.
All of this is wrong. Miller can come out and play the puck, and he should expect to get bumped (not run the fuck over) if he still has it when the opposing player gets to him because, well, duh, the guy wants to take the puck and score and he may bump you in the process. But he had already poked the puck out of the way, and like you say, Lucic was basically just taking out his frustration that he'd lost himself a breakaway by leveling a cheap shot on the goalie. No reason for it.
Second thing that's wrong, you get a concussion from whiplash. Ie, I can hit you shoulder to shoulder and your head never hits me, the ice, or anything and just the force of impact gives you a concussion. This is actually how most concussions occur in car accidents, not from actually bumping your head on anything. I don't have much doubt that the Lucic hit was the source of the injury, but because of the later play there's no way to be completely certain.
It wasn't a headshot. It was a cheap shot, in that he could easily have avoided him or at the very least slowed up and got mostly out of the way, in which case it wouldn't have been anything major. Hell, I could've done that and I'm pretty sure Milan can skate circles around me.
