147 pages in the 2010-11 Thread. Here start's next season.

Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

oh my god, I live in MN and hockey as most people know is pretty big here....I went out to Minneapolis tonight and there was so much Kings gear.....I was like seriously what the fuck, you won't be wearing that dustin brown jersey in 3 weeks if they lose.

It's cool if you want to cheer for one of the teams (i'll root for NJ) but don't go out buying Kings shit and acting like you've been a Kings fan for years, nobody is a kings fan....I've never met a actual LA Kings fan.

There are definitely real Kings fans out there - ones who have been diehards for years - since the last time Toronto won a cup kinda diehards.

...My guess is not very many of them live in MN, or anywhere near there. Hell, it almost makes more sense to be a Lakers fan in MN than a Kings fan.

I have a really good friend who's a super big Kings fan and has started talking shit. I cannot possibly deal with having both SoCal teams' names on the cup right now without San Jose's as well. That happens, and I really know how Vancouver felt in the early 1990's when Calgary and Edmonton were pointing the laugh fingers at them, and still sorta are.

Please for the love of god - I don't really want NJ to win a 4th cup in 20 years, but that's far more tolerable than the southern California bandwagon shitstorm brewing.

y eah that 1-3-1 shit is bogus. i dont think the kings or devils are boring to watch though. they both pressure the boards hard in the offensive zone and create turnovers, they dont just sit back and wait for teams to try to break through their wall of players. i like that play style. you dont want your players being overly aggressive, but guys like doughty and zidlicky jump right in to the rush and look to make plays, and they're doing really well so far.

i think the series is going to be about the goalies. quick definitely has the upper hand, but if quick is bad and brodeur is outstanding, the devils have a shot. in all likelihood though i forsee an early jersey exit. i dont think it'll be a sweet but kings will take it in 5 or maybe 6.

the kings fore check is great, the whole 1-1-2-1 thing. forces so many turnovers, it's definitely exciting to watch. i wonder how NJ will react to it

I imagine the Yotes will be under some sort of agreement where they cannot relocate for X years, where by a staggering and totally unrelated coincidence, X is the number of years it will take to build a new arena in Quebec City.

Seattle wont happen anytime soon. Likely years after Quebec. Portland is still possible, but you have to get Paul Allen on board... thats the biggest issue.

the back hand pass by williams was fantastic, kopitar did a good job of regaining control of the puck, for a second i thought he was going to lose it.

Its like kopitar wasn't even trying..cool as the other side of hte pillow

Once that puck hit his tape he knew he was scoring, you could just see it in hte confidence of his moves and skating - nothing overly complicated just an absolute undressing of one of the greatest goalies to play the game

Ya Kopitar's goal was nice but it wasn't THAT nice, the way you guys were talking about it I went and saw the replay and was disappointed. I was expecting some unreal dangles a-la-Datsyuk or something lol.

Who in the Pacific is worth talking about this year? Best offensive players in the Pacific right now are Kopitar and... Jamie Benn, I guess?

People talk about Getz and Perry and Ryan when the Ducks are on, but right now the Ducks aren't on, so that explains that.

You picked Jamie Benn? the one of a whole 63 points? There's like 10+ guys in the pacific who outscore that guy on the reg... While having better defensive play... Benn won't be a bonafide star for another year or two. He's not even on a lot of guys level yet when it comes to talking points.

Either way, there are plenty of guys in the pacific who would be getting their dicks sucked by the media every game night if they were in Canada or back east. Put Kopitar anywhere east of the Mississippi or north of the 49th parallel and he'd get far more hockey attention, no doubt about it.

As of right now, anyone in LA is going to be in the dark dark eclipse shadow of Kobe... David Beckham being in LA isn't even enough to break that trend. Same goes for the bay area - everyone knows the sharks well here - that's why they sell out every game, but the media pays most attention to Baseball and Football. Brian Wilson's pathetically dyed beard gets more attention than Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau from Bay Area media outlets. Too many people watching ESPN in the US...

Of guys I would want on my team right now to control puck possession and make offensive plays, I cannot really think of anyone besides Kopitar and Benn in the Pac, except again the Ducks line but they've sucked lately and we're talking "right this moment". Who else is playing well enough right now to even be on the list for consideration? Ray Whitney? I feel like this year was his last hurrah.
