Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

But then again, my line of work doesn't require me to be a top physical specimen during one of the most brutal sporting tournaments the world knows. Most I'd do during the period is go out, have a beer or so.. not a beer or seven.

especially when I just joined the team recently as both of these guys have.

I sure as hell wouldn't go out and get wasted the night before a huge presentation, or a very important project. it wouldn't be as big of a deal if they only had practice the next day, or hell, even a regular season game....but you're in the fucking playoffs and you're staying out until all hours of the morning? unacceptable.

your view of professional athletes is so ass-backwards i dont even know where to start.

its not about the money its about loving the game, nobody would stay playing hockey (or any sport at a professional level) if they didnt love it. why would they care about the stanley cup? because its the ultimate prize in hockey, it defines nhl careers, it is what i would assume every player in the nhl dreams about, if you dont care about winning the cup or playing hockey why would you play hockey at all?

if you love a sport and are willing to dedicate your life to playing it, you have to make sacrifices for the team. not going out to the bar the night before a playoff game happens to be one of those sacrifices.

A job that you are getting paid loads of money to be in top shape to go out and beat the opposing team the next day....its not like these guys are going and loading ups trucks with boxes.


They can get shitfaced all they want during the off season but to do it the night before a game you're just stupid, talk about not fair to your teammates who are doing the right thing.


don't get me wrong I'd love to party if I was in their position to. but there is a time and place for everything and the night before a key playoff game is not one of them.

I'd liken the playoffs as more of a meeting with the top executives. You may go drinking the night before a regular work day, but to go out and spend the night out late on the town when you have a boardroom meeting with the top executives who will make or break you is irresponsible and tells dearly of the persons character.

If they can't respect the team rules, they deserve to be called out and benched. I can understand not "getting" the Stanley Cup, but if you can't play by the rules that your employer has set forth, you deserve to be held accountable.

I dont understand your point about a russian player not caring about the cup - sure the stanley cup might just be some stupid trophy that some players might not care about, but who doesn't want to say they are the champion? To say you're a part of the best team in the league and there is no one better than you should be the driving force for these idiots to NOT FUCKING DRINK THE NIGHT BEFORE A PLAYOFF GAME. It's embarrassing and if I was a teammate I would be bullshit that I have been busting my ass since October to get to this point and these jackasses are out partying showing no regard for the team..you want an easy professional sports job where you can drink all the time, get fat and not try during games? Go play in the MLB

well if your giving a fuck runs out in April...then just quit the NHL...cause not caring about winning the stanley cup is just stupid, its like not caring about winning any other of the trophies in pro sports....you dream about that shit as a little kid, I know I did and I'm sure as hell 95% of pro sports players did too, you win one of those and you are the best.....they maybe don't give a fuck about drinking at night before a game, but i'm sure there are guys on the team that care, which is why they were suspended for being fucks.

and it's nice to see nashville putting it to the yotes to start this game. i REALLY don't want to see phoenix go to and or win the cup. i'm bitter since they beat out chicago in round 1.

hahaha so true..it's a damn shame to because this thread was on pace to shatter last years thread in terms of page numbers

so glad I decided to got to bed after regulation last night because there is no way I would be at work right now after watching a 3OT game..happy for the rangers though I hope this win is enough to propel them past the caps, I would still like it to go 7 games just for entertainment purposes tho

How fucking tired must these guys be? the caps have played half of their playoff games into OT so far
