Great game yesterday, closer than I thought it was gonna be actually. Flyers never seem to show up til the second though, can't believe bryz let in that soft one to tie it in the third.

Anybody happen to catch the interview between pierre and giroux right before the game. Scotty hartnell was right behind em and you could see em tapping both giroux and pierre on the shoulder with his stick while they were on camera. These guys just look like they're havin so much fun in the playoffs.

I just did a bit of googling now that I'm at a computer and apparently, "The tiger is the emblem of Russia." Interesting choice for a goalie's helmet. He could have at least made them look fierce.

LOL... Random Scoring drought near the end of the season? Are you fucking serious?

LA got 8th because they couldn't score for shit during THE ENTIRE season and didn't actually start scoring up until they sacked Terry Murray and made some deadline moves... They weren't even in playoff position until late in the season... They hovered around in 9th and 10th, if not lower, for just about the entire year. They were one of 2 teams to not score over 200 goals during the season. Minnesota was the only team that scored less. Colombus, Edmonton, and Montreal all scored more. They pretty much rode their defense and strong goaltending all year until they started remembering they needed to score to win.

It should be said that now that they have any scoring at ALL they have a legitimate chance at the cup... They were downright pathetic offensively until maybe 2-3 weeks before the season ended.

...That said they are playing the Blues, who have equally good marks in Goaltending and Defense, but have been far more efficient at scoring this year, and have one of the most ridiculous Penalty Kills in the game. I'd say anyone could be considered an underdog against them.

LA and St. Louis are both playing very similar games right now. I'd say this series goes at least 6-7 games for sure. That said, St. Louis probably should have taken the presidents trophy. They mucked up at the end and Vancouver went magma hot to end it, but ultimately, St. Louis was the toast of the league in the 2nd half. They just downright throttled almost anyone they faced - particularly at home. They are much better at special teams play so far, and have a much more physical defense - especially when it comes to their forwards. They have the most insane Goaltending tandem in the league (not that LA's is that far off... they're probably up there with Vancouver in the top 3)

Simply put, when I found out Phoenix had won the division, I wanted the Sharks to flop the rest of that last game so we could take our chances in Vancouver. I at least figured we could compete better with a Daniel-less Vancouver... in my mind, they are the closest thing to Chicago 2010, who just bumrushed through the playoffs that year en route to a cup. Their statistics attest to that in every way across the board.

I'm Very familiar with both LA and St. Louis. They are the last 2 teams that my team had played this year, and the last 2 teams my team has faced in the playoffs. I'm speaking from that point, and that point only. I've also talked up LA during this post season, so I reaaally don't see how I'm being "super biased" here lol.

Oh, no that's exactly what I thought you were pinning on me. Which is why I thought it was downright silly, seeing as I've talked both teams up, and both very recently. Truth is, I'd have been almost as scared going into a first round series with this years lineup of the kings (fully healthy) as I would against the Blues. The fact that the Sharks had beaten the Kings two games in a row to finish the season, and the Blues season sweep of the Sharks being the one and only difference in optimism.

I simply think the Blues are friggin insane this season - that said, holy shit they have taken a nosedive in this game and are allowing the Kings to walk all over them. Why couldn't they have played this bad against the Sharks for even one period? Playoff fatigue already?

Yeah... and in decisive fashion. They've just flat out manhandled the blues - who have no idea how to deal with penner of all people? They just let him waltz into the front of the net. If the sharks sent in ANYONE near Elliot or Halak, they'd have 2 guys thump him out in no time. St. Louis is playing slow and lethargic. Perhaps not handling the time off well? Pietrangelo being out cannot possibly have this adverse of an effect on them.

Given PHX's play against Nashville it seems not altogether unlikely that the Kings would have to defeat the 1-2-3 seeds in order. But they could pull it off. In which case I actually do want the flyers to get to the finals.

I would also note that the Rangers lost that game because of home ice... that countdown to 8 minutes chant was pretty funny until it managed to piss Ovechkin right off. Hey remember when he scored 65 goals? Turns out he DOESN'T suck.

Game 2 in Philly tonight, we're really thinking about heading down to the xfinity live center they just put in down there by the stadium. It's like 12 bars smashed into a building with tons of big screens. Place looks shoulder to shoulder for every game.

Yeah I understand your point as a philly fan but I would love to see a NYR/PHI eastern final and just watch the two teams smash the hell out of each other..there were a ton of gigantic hits last night in the caps/rangers game

Yea a flyers rangers series would be a great one, and we do owe em for coming down here and woopin us up at home in the winter classic. That would really be sayin something too if we could beat a team that we went 0 and 6 against in the regular season.

Yea the best area for a jersey fan right about now is anywhere outside the city of Philadelphia. Try and find even one devils fan in the crowd tonight on TV, I didn't see any last game, and I bet the next game in jersey will have quite a bit of orange in the crowd.

This happens at most stadiums.... and in most sports. I've been boo'd in Buffalo at a Sabres game, at a Devils game (which was sad because I kind of like the Devils), and at a Cleveland Browns game (a 50 year old man actually threw his beer on us).
