Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

Now, I remember you posting about the Bruins years ago - prior to the bandwagon jumpers really latched on last season, but... what the fuck?

Boston's not the team to beat right now. They've been nearly taken out in the first round already - and still could potentially go home early... by a 7th seed who's on their 3rd string goaltender.

My point being, there's been way too much parity in the NHL since the lockout for you to name ANYONE "the team to beat". That's an NFL or MLB tagline that doesn't transfer over to the NHL - not in a league that... well, before the Bruins were relevant, were sending 8th seeds to the cup final against clubs from Carolina of all places that had less than a decade of relevance since it had relocated.

All this desire for relevance means jack fuck all in this sport.

whens the last time the defending champions made it out of the first round the next year? Not counting the Pittsburg and Detroit repeat in 2008 and 2009. It was the Colorado Avalanche winning in 2001 then being eliminated in 02

Seeing as it's now the playoffs of the following year, I would consider it some serious hubris to begin starting shit with Habs fans right now about the one cup in the last 39 years you had the previous year.

B's fans had all summer to gloat and dance and party and shove it in the faces of everyone. Now? Stop talking shit and show how nervous you should be that you could get bumped tonight.

And people fucking talking about Thomas like he is god. The fact is he's a flopper. He is too slow to push laterally and therefore he must be super aggressive and cut down the angle and then dive across headfirst if there is a pass. The Bruins do have a solid D in front of the net which are able to bail him out a lot of the time. Just watch the replay of Chimera's goal. Thomas ain't that great, I think the caps have finally figured him out and they will without a doubt win tonight.

Boys boys boy, when I say "team to beat" I did not mean it in a literal sense. At no point during this season, (maybe during their huge win streak) or during these playoffs have I thought the Bruins to be cup favorites. I still don't think so. Their PP has been awful, Thomas has been a shade of what he was last year in the playoffs, Lucic looks like an 80 year old woman on the ice, and their big guns-Krejci, Seguin, Marchand- have been no shows up until these past two games. I meant "the team" in the sense that everyone wants to knock off the cup champs. That's why they are called defending champs, numbskulls. The two "Teams to beat" just got their asses handed to them in 5 games a piece. The Pens and Nucks both blew it, and many saw them to be the most dangerous teams entering the playoffs. The Rangers could be following them. The playoffs are funny...there is a shit ton of luck involved. How else do you think the Bruins took it last year? They got a lot of lucky bounces and they gutted it out till the end. And call me a bandwagon fan...I could care less. Ray Borque was my hero growing up. My father taught Terry Oreilly and Cleon Daskalakis how to play racquetball. Hockey was always in my house. Granted, much more of a football fan, but I've been watching the Bruins for 15plus years. And btw, the Red Sox are a fucking disgrace. Anyone who claims to be a fan right now should shoot themselves in the face...they are the disgrace of the MLB right now.

So the wings are in "crunch mode" if you will for july 1st. They've said they are most likely looking at acquiring both Suter and Parise in the off-season. Both Hudler and Stuarts contracts are up along with Holmers. Holmers most likely going to sign with us again I have a feeling. Lidstrom said he feels physically ready to play at least one more season. Just has to make sure hes mentally and emotionally ready and motivated for one more season and possibly run at the cup but he will be making his decision prior to July 1st.

Ugh, that was a stunner, but good on Ward. That was a hell of a look there. Congrats to the black man. Congrats to the Caps, they played damn hard. I wish them all the luck in the world. I kinda wanna see a Blues Cup though...

Bruins fans...look forward to next year. Seguin is showing some real promise. He is pretty darn exciting to watch when he gets into open ice. Perhaps we will see Tuukka in the starting role. Thomas is ok, but I don't want any sacred cows...unless they happen to be Tom Brady. On that note, the Patriots have a stacked team and the NFL draft is tomorrow. Let's hope they can get back at it. And fuck the red sox, seriously.

the boston bandwagon craze has been fucking nuts this year. i went to a few earlier season bruins games and i'd say 90% of the people there had never been to a hockey game before, let alone a b's game

can't imagine how many more bandwagon fans they picked up during playoff season

Dude, it's much worse with the Red Sox. The Bruins have a hardcore heart of fans that haven't ever given up on them. Those die hard sox fans are few and far between, mostly because they all died a couple of years ago. Now Fenway park is a fuckin shit show with all of these pink hat fans. I went to a few games earlier this year and was astounded by how many people were on their iphones/ipads for the entire game. The sox would be getting blown out, yet people still went nuts for that stupid fucking piece of shit song "Sweet Caroline" during the 8th inning. God I can't stand it. Real bruins fans are a gritty bunch though, as I'm sure most hardcore hockey fans are. You get band wagon people with any degree of success...it's inevitable.

Well that sucked. A lot of Bruins did not play hard. Washington skated so much harder and faster than us. Washington did a great job of preventing us from making plays in front of their net all series.

I guess that just saved me a lot of sleep, money & calories. The rest of the playoffs will be very interesting & entertaining.
