Now the season's over, Boston has the cup for the summer, but it's all up for grabs come autumn. Bump it through the slow summer months as transactions occur

So yeah. If current leads hold, the second round will feature LA, Nashville, Phoenix, Ottawa, Washington and Philadelphia, plus St. Louis.

Basically, only St. Louis - and arguably Nashville - were expected to win.

This is a bloody mess. The West 2nd round is going to be the most boring hockey ever.

if torres hit gets 25, yes it was dirty but at the very least it was actually some what of a hockey play...and weber deliberately smashing zeterbergs head into the glass only gets a 2500 dollar fine? da fuck is that, that is intent to cause injury and if I did that to some dude at the bar I'd go to jail.

Florida v. Ottawa and Philadelphia v. Washington?

Yeah, the only team in there that I hands down picked to win was Nashville. That's ridiculous.


Also. San jose. 1-8 against St. Louis this year. *proceeds to barf every organ out.

1. Sorry Sean. When Van went down 3-0 I was sure your team was doomed before mine.  Rough way to go out on the 2 goals in 45.

2. What an absolute snipe by Toews. Unreal.

3. Nick Leddy just stepped up big time. Best player for his team tonight. I have no idea what the 3 stars say but the guy is a champ.

How did the Van - LA series start before the SJ - STL series and yet it's only played 4 games so far? Seems a bit odd... Crazy scheduling there.

and yeah. Rough, but I called this series in 4 games if it stayed the status - quo. For the most part it did, and 5 games with the only Sharks win being in 2OT, isn't far off of my prediction.

... it only gave me baseless, stupid, annoying, HOPE.

Would have put me to sleep like a baby even if I was a fan of one of those teams..


...this playoff is really making me miss last year - and not only because of my team being out already, but mostly because of the awesome matchups...

I'm definitely going to lose interest in the west if all goes as what's shaping up.

Going to rehash the Torres shit here... Not sure if any of you have watched this:



Shanahan outlines his reasoning for the Torres suspension.

Given Torres history, I am okay with the 25 games. He's been slapped on the wrist and sent to timeout a number of times for the same type of play. At some point the ante needs to be upped to make the risk not worth the reward anymore.

My beef though continues to lie in the fact that the outcome of injury on the play continues to hold a high level of importance in the decision making process. This is not fair, not consistent, and furthermore, is not putting the safety of the players first. It almost encourages a Russian roulette-style environment where liberties can be taken and if the opponent is not seriously injured, the aggressor will get off relatively freely.

I at least somewhat disagree. I feel that he was suspended more because he was a repeat offender and broke 3 separate rules on one play more than anything. Yes, it lead to an injury - that's the red flag, but he has been suspended before when it didnt lead to an injury (example being his hit on Eberle). This is at least a sign that the NHL is trying to change it's ways when it comes to one thing it fears more than anything - head injuries.

Torres is a headhunter, and always has been. Besides the examples given in Shanahan's assessment, I can name at least 3-4 more occasions where he went for the head. He's injured players and put them out for extended periods of time in the past. He hasn't changed his ways from being suspended prior to now, and this is what he gets for it. Bing. Bang. Boom. Time to golf early for Raffi.

i don't know why you guys will think it won't be that good with new match ups...i was bored as shit with the same old teams moving on...i love seeing the wings out, hope to god the canucks lose, which the hawks would have lost last night....I always like seeing a new team win every year I highly dislike back to back championships.
